RatDogPackMemberI was walking up to Stonehenge last week when a crow flew right to me. It sat on a post and looked me in the eyes. I take this as a very good omen

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amI carried a rook (that’s what this cutie is) around on my arm for over 30 mins at Old Sarum – just up the road from SH. They’re incredibly tame and inquisitive.
So many people asked if I’d brought him with me… how I wish I had. And that I could take him back home with me!

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amLucky you! That’s actually a rook, not a crow. You can tell by the pale face where they have no feathers.

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amYou must now take the “crow witch” flair. Sorry, I don’t make the rules

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amThat’s truly amazing!
I had a crow startle me and then flew off “laughing”.
I can’t remember exactly what I said but it was along the lines of…”yeah yeah you got me”. -

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amI love Stonehenge we used to go there all the time when I was a kid that’s when you could go in and touch the stones. My birthday is the 21 June so I feel it has special significance to me. It’s a rook btw.

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amBeautiful. The title reminds me of the album “A Crow Looked at Me” which is also beautiful but also sad.

GuestMay 11, 2023 at 3:18 amThe rooks at Stonehenge are very tame, even for rooks. Some of the English Heritage workers feed them. I spent some time chatting to one of the workers while she had a few rooks sitting on her arms (mainly me telling her she had the best job in the world). I do have a photo of her but I’m not posting it.
However, here’s me feeding one of the rooks at Stonehenge. He did eventually hop onto my arm but flew off when I tried to get a photo.
That was back in July 2020 right after a lockdown got lifted so there were hardly any people there compared to normal. I don’t know they act during the normal crowds. I was there again this past December for Yule, did see a few rooks but they weren’t coming anywhere near the crowds.
