Having trouble with ascendants and sun signs on birth charts. I understand how to do a birth chart but I’m starting to think that my ascendant chart guides may be off. All of my houses end up being off by 1 bc of this. I’m using “the only astrology book you’ll ever need” by Joanna maritime woolfolk. When I check other birth charts in apps and such I’m getting different feedback. How can I fix this? I’m on day 3 of this frustration and i don’t want to half ass it and just go with it. I want it to be accurate and I’m not wasting my time.

Sounds like you are doing calculations by hand? If so, computer calculations are going to be more accurate. Use astrodienst or astro-seek to calculate charts, or get a program or app. Be aware of different house systems. I don’t know what house system Woolfolk’s book has, but check that you are using the same system when comparing.

[Astro.com](https://Astro.com) will calculate your birth chart accurately. Woolfolk’s book is great for understanding planets, signs, aspects, etc., but not so much for calculations.

Try using whole sign and see if that makes a difference

I agree to use whole sign and see how that works for you. If I use Placidus, my placements shift slightly and a lot of my chart really doesn’t resonate at all, whereas with whole sign everything is easier to read and feels true for me.
