How do I properly do a Bay leaf spell? I know they said to write what you desire and burn it but when you write what you want on the bay leaf does it have to be written like it’s already happened or written like that’s what you are wanting. Ex: “I got the house of my dreams” or “I wish for/want the house of my dreams”

    Thank you kindly 💖

This is essentially a question about creating a petition or statement of intention.

u/kai-ote summed it up succinctly in a comment on the recent, excellent [sigil post](https://old.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/yoxnym/we_need_to_talk_about_sigils/):

    > Not wishes, statements.

    > Example… Not, “I want more confidence”, but rather, “I have more confidence”

    > Instead of, “I want to be believed”, go with “People believe my words.”

So using your example, “I have the house of my dreams” would be a great way to word it.

This is a weird cross reference, but I remember growing up, hearing brahmins sing a part of the Vedas in Sanskrit and it always seemed really powerful (and was) and then when I was older I learned that half of this particular part was literally saying stuff like ‘I have ten cows, i have 3 cows and a bull,’ and so forth. I had two thoughts, one was sort of being amazed that this mystical thing was all about cows, and the other was realizing that what this part was about really was the person singing that they already have the cows, that reality already exists, it is. It isn’t asking for anything, it is saying that it has already become into being. And I think it is really powerful, in any ritual or intention!
