I recently got a shoe box of stuff I left at my ex’s place. Most of which I got rid of shortly after but one thing I kept was a pentagram pendant. Ever since I’ve had nothing but bad luck and misfortune. I choose to bury the pentagram and things have gotten better. Is it possible she cursed or hexed the pentagram?

Yes. This is why it is not recommended to reveal too much information about yourself or your craft; wards, sigils, altars, etc.

Sure. Intentionally defiling something intended to bless or protect is a simple, effective, and classic way to curse.

Or it could have gotten unintentionally tainted by your exes energy.

    Yeah, easily possible.

Wasn’t the symbol cursed though, it was the object. It was the smart play to figure you would toss everything but wan to keep that one item so curse that one so that anyone ( if it were me) touching is cursed with ill fortune, since you are the one mostly likely to touch it and keep it, that means you.

The way I’ve come to understand sigils, figures/idols, symbols is that when the right ritual is done around them a spirit with good intentions may inhabit it (a guardian, helper, etc.) and as long as it is occasionally “fed” it’ll remain there and continue its work. It’s like, for example inviting a roommate into your house, so they can watch your stuff while you’re not home, and they have their own “space”. Now, if you ask me that question “can a symbol be corrupted?”, I’d say absolutely. You chase away the roommate (banish) and invite a “bad” one. Someone else could do this while you’re not home, but I think this time, you probably chased away the “helper” and maybe even invited something “worse” on your own, because of how you interacted with your ex. If she doesn’t practice, she can’t effectively undo your work, unless you never actually did any workings on the pendant, so your ex just fed some harmful spirit with her bitterness, which found its way into your pendant.

Just be mindful of how you carry yourself around people in the future, because it does mess with your tools and craft.
