Hello all. I’m fairly new to tarot, but the readings I’ve done were incredibly accurate.
One of my first reading I’ve done for myself I’ve asked the cards how I feel about [ex’s name]. I’ve pulled the Death card. I interpreted that as feeling like what we had has come to an end, yet there is hope for return because of the sun in the back. I did an additional pull and got the Ten of Swords, I interpreted that as feeling betrayed by him and ‘left to die’, without being able to do anything about it.

So now my question is: I know the Death card means new beginnings. Is it possible the cards are telling me that the relationship is completely done, and new beginnings await me (predicting future?), or is it simply telling me that is HOW I feel about it at that moment?

To me it seems like what you thought it was a nice relationship ended in a way that wasn’t what you were expecting. It seems like it’s actually over and it left you with a lot of pain too.

I don’t think there’s any reason to think there’s hope with the sun since it’s before the death card and after that one there’s the 10 of swords.

And yes, even when we ask for an specific thing, the cards give us way more information but that’s just to make us understand why things look that way.

Death means the relationship is over. The 10S emphasizes this point. To discover something new, you must first release the old. Find a way to make peace with the end of your relationship so you can move forward unburdened.

Since you asked how you feel about him you should interpret it that way. The cards can definitely answer more than asked but always along the same line of the original query, or sometimes telling you are not asking the right thing for example, or that you are not being honest to yourself. It doesn’t seem to the the case here though.

Did you happen to have done much harm to him/her in a manner the seemed overkill or the other way around? Or perhaps many issues where present in the relationship that makes you feel it’s done and over with? Two cards is too little for a matter like this, I would do a larger spread with these two cards as significators for it if you deem so appropriate.
