Cat seemed scared and hissed at the tarot card deck. They were in the package near my pillow. Once he saw them he slowly crawled towards them, hissed a few times and slapped them.
In the past he never showed this kind of reaction toward cards, he would actually be near and roll on the ground when I was reading them.
There is probably a normal explanation, but what do y’all think?

Do you usually have your deck in that place? Your cat might have been surprised/scared to see something in a place it didn’t expect. Try putting it carefully in their line of vision again and see how they react this time.

my cat is scared of everything. he’s used to seeing my phone on the bed, but when it’s a friends phone he starts to walk towards it cautiously and slap it. same with cold cups. just cleanse them

Cats are funny critters, sometimes they’re bothered by things and sometimes they’re not. If it becomes a habit you may want to look into it further.

Have you seen the videos of cats being startled by cucumbers? Cats are weird. Don’t get me wrong they are total amazing and wonderful creatures. But they are weird, and can sometimes be assholes. This is just cat behavior. No need to read further into it.

it could definitely be just him being a lil silly guy or him sensing that something is off; but i think it’s best to cleanse them and the room just in case!

Do you use them alot? He could be jealous that you give them more attention. My cats sit on my tarot spreads.

Your cat was surprised to see the shape of that deck of cards in a place where he/she never saw them before. This is not what he/she wants next to your pillow. If it was in a spot where he/she normally expected to see it, there would not be a reaction like that. Cats hate the unexpected.

her litter box
her shadow
her water fountain
her cat bed
her toys
the other cat
my desk right after she licked the side of it
the carpet, but only this one spot on it

Cats can be assholes just because it’s Tuesday. It’s probably nothing and it’s just being a cat.

My cat hissing at my shoe from time to time, don’t think there is much mystery into that.

Maybe it was because something was where it was not supposed to be according to the kitty
Perhaps it was possibly something to stalk.You’re reading into the reaction stuff that probably isn’t there

My cat tries to lay on the cards as soon as I pull them. Lol. It’s not very helpful, but at least she’s trying.
Maybe you need to cleanse your deck, or you were asking a question you shouldn’t. Cats pick up on so much more than we understand. If you were asking something in an anxious state or the answer wasn’t what you wanted to hear, the cat could have thought the cards were trying to hurt you.

Are they by chance holographic, or really shiny/reflective? For cats, the super reflective retina that gives them great vision in low light/night means that they are pretty near sighted during the day. It also means that bright or highly reflective surfaces and objest can cause a bit of an optical illusion.

I don’t have any suggestions or interpretations. I once had a cat who hated my vinyl copy of Duran Duran’s Rio. He’d jump on it, bite and claw it. He left my other albums alone.
I would say maybe the cat wants a reading. But the cat may damage the cards
