Recently began seeing a new guy and we seem to like each other a lot. I asked my deck what the potential for a relationship looks like with him and just pulled 3 cards, no particular spread.
Ace of Pentacles, the Devil, King of Swords
The Ace of Pentacles makes total sense to me, I’m entering into something new that could be stable and grounding for me. The King of Swords seems to embody the guy as he kinda takes charge and plans our dates and seems much more authoritative than me. I know the Devil is bad and could normally signify abuse, controlling partners, etc., but the first thing I thought of when I saw the card was sex and BDSM, and maybe we’ll have a lot of sex without love or something like that. The guy is a scorpio which I think is why I thought that way instead of immediately assuming he’ll be a manipulative /abusive/unfaithful partner. And the other cards seem positive to me, so I’m having a bit of trouble reading the Devil in between them. Any insights are very much appreciated!

I would interpret the devil perhaps as addiction. You really like this guy, he might be a good person, but don’t let the relationship take up too much of your attention so that you lose touch of other things in your life.

I feel like I’ve pulled this exact thing in a romance reading. The relationship was also with a Scorpio sun/venus man and he was in fact emotionally and verbally abusive. This added with the king of swords is a red flag to me to be honest. The king of swords can also be quite a scary man when he doesn’t get his way.
I understand the urge to ignore one “bad” card among all the good but just to let you know from my experience… The Devil energy only got stronger throughout the relationship. Faithful, sexual, and passionate? Yes. Obsessed, jealous, manipulative? Also yes. And it wasn’t me doing the devilish things…
No one here knows better than you though. Keep yourself safe.
