I have a prayer candle, but I honestly don’t know why I bought it because I have no deities.

I heard that you could use them for your ancestors, but I don’t really like them.

What do you use them for, and how do you use them?

Be your own deity. Fuck it. Burn it because it makes YOU happy. Promote those positive vibes.

I have some candles on my altar, I also don’t work with any deities. I am a sea witch, so I burn my candles as a thank you to the Ocean for her bounties and take a moment of silence to reflect on the treasures I found at the beach. I also have a small statue of a mermaid on my altar that I think of as representing the spirit of the Ocean.

I think you just need to consider what is important to you and your craft. Honor and thank nature if ancestors and Gods don’t feel right. Whatever you feel most connected to.

I mainly use one when I’m in need of healing (either for myself or someone else)

as for how i use it i mainly “channel” the energy of mother mary (I say channel very loosely because i don’t say anything i just mentally ask her to help)

You could place a picture of something that you find archaic. Like maybe a favorite superhero or villain. Or an idol like a celebrity of some sort.
You don’t have to honor ancestors if you don’t feel drawn to it. It also could be that a deity is knocking at the door and lighting the candle is how you look through the peep hole, of sorts.

Magick involves a lot of creativity. You feel it, use it. 🙂

You could use it in a multi day spell that requires the candle to be lit across a number of days, or use it as a general candle for spellwork as well across multiple spells.
