Help me create a Lotus Tarot deck – I need your guidance and support!

Hi everyone!
I’m thrilled to be embarking on a new creative project – creating a Tarot deck with a Black Lotus fantasy theme in mind. I’ve always been fascinated by the symbolism and beauty of the Lotus flower, and I think it has a lot to offer in terms of Tarot readings and spiritual growth.

However, I’m new to the world of Tarot deck creation, and I’m hoping to get some help and guidance from those who have experience with it. I’m looking for people who are passionate about the Tarot, who love the Lotus flower, and who want to be part of a collaborative project that can create something truly special.

My plan is to start with the Major Arcana, and then move on to the Minor Arcana as the project develops. I’m hoping to create original artwork for each card, incorporating the Lotus in different ways to reflect the meanings and symbolism of each card.

I’ve done professional copyediting before, including a published tarot guidebook. I can’t work for free (nor should you expect others to), though I’m happy to help with your project if I’m properly compensated for my time and expertise.

How much Tarot experience do you have? What I’m finding more and more as I get deeper into the deck creation process is that you can go two ways: mindlessly copy the RWS and its keywords or bring your own Tarot vision to your deck.

I’m working with pre-existing art, which has its own challenges (what if the artists you want to use have not painted Justice, a Hanged Man, or anything by moonlight?) but very often I find that I need to work out which aspect of a card I want to lean into and develop and draw connections to. I mean, you _could_ stick three swords into a lotus flower and be done with it, but it would be better if you had a mental concept of the card and then found a way to illustrate it.

Personally, after several bad experiences where the images did not make sense as Tarot cards I will no longer buy decks from creators without Tarot experience.

I’d love to be part of a subreddit (or mailing list, or other group) where people can exchange experiences.
