Forums Forums Tarot How to tell if cards are reversed? I bought the Marseille Arcana deck and am having a hard time distinguishing if cards that are more “equal” in pattern are reversed or upright. Thanks in advance!

basically Marseille deck uses without reversed meanings. or if you make your spread with major Arcana only.

I’ve actually figured it out! I compared the copyright on the back to where the copyright is placed on an upright major arcana card

To read a TDM you must read the cards together.

Like the Thoth tarot, its more about the context and the order of the cards, the light and the shadow you can see in them, other than reversed meanings.

Or… with a pen you can make a mark ????????‍♂️

    Have nice readings 🙂

Marseille reading is much more about context. Think of both the positive and challenging aspects of a card in relation to the question and the surrounding cards. Traditional readers don’t use reversals for this reason. That being said, most cards do have some indication, if only the copyright stamp. And for visual reasons, sometimes I read reversals with cups and swords. But you will find your readings become far richer if you don’t rely on hard binaries in interpretation. I was doing a tableau to practice last night, and read the VII Deniers in relation to one card as an honest attempt to find one’s own way in life and in relation to another as an attempt to pull off a scam! Both of those are fairly traditional readings of those cards, but they came out nearly opposite depending upon who they related to.
