    Hi, I’m terrified of flying and have a 2.5h bumpy flight ahead. Could you please think of this sister and send good vibes my way so I don’t end up passing out from anxiety?
    Thank you so much.

    (I’ve tried all I can to reduce my nerves, but an hour from flying my heart is going to jump out of my chest)

    Edit: currently sitting, waiting for departure. I just wanted to thank you all again. It’s true what people say about this subreddit, I’ve never felt warmer from interaction with strangers than I have today with your answers and good wishes.
    I’ll light a candle for every one of you as soon as I get home. I’m usually a lurker, but you people have made me want to get more involved in the community.

    Have you flown before? I’m not trying to invalidate your fear if you have, just provide some comfort about how it feels. I know it can seem really scary but if you don’t look outside it just feels like you’re sitting in a room most of the flight, you may just feel sick which sucks but you can take some medicine. I’m picturing a sphere of light around you, extending into the plane interior and keeping you and your whole flight safe and sound 💛 (but I assure you plane crashes are exceptionally rare I know it’s still scary though)

    I hope your flight goes well! I generally don’t have a fear of flying, but I had to take a 5 hour flight right after a traumatic experience while I was alone and it was so, so hard.

    Please feel enpowered to ask a stewardess for help if you’re really struggling in the air! They’re generally very nice people and they might be able to give you some help or at least reassure you that the plane is alright.

    Thank you all for your time and kind words. I was a wreck before checking in, but now as I wait to board while reading your advice and good wishes I know I’m going to be alright.
    I knew I would find the peace of mind I needed asking in this community.

    Just think of the plane a a big aluminum broom?

    I don’t like to fly either and since cannabis is legal in my state they don’t seem check for it at the airport. I bring one gummy and dissolve it in tea – once I’m through security. I drink 25% of the tea right away and another 25% every 40 minutes. Calms my nerves and doesn’t make me goofy. If you haven’t used cannabis before or it makes you more nervous ignore this advice!

    I use turbulence forecast (don’t know if I can link) to help ease my fears. Also reading about what causes turbulence really helped me.

    Sending you all the good vibes I can muster. Something that really helps me when anxiety threatens to take over is a simple breathing exercise: breathe in deeply through your nose for five seconds; hold for five seconds; breathe out slowly through your mouth for five seconds. Repeat as needed. If it helps, you can picture yourself breathing in calm and positivity and breathing out your anxiety.

    It will be okay. This is hard, but you can do hard things.

    Download some calming music or a podcast and try to stay focused on that. You’ll do great. Sometimes it also helps to strike up a conversation with someone sitting near you to take your mind off the flight.
