So I found a few spell jar recipes online (I know I’m a baby witch I’m just starting T-T) But I spent the last two days gathering and cleansing my materials. And i neglected to read how to do them. I put everything in them, and sealed them off with black, and white wax respectively. I’m looking over the same place i got them from, and I completely messed them up. One of them calls for rainwater, I used moon water since that would increase the strength and potency of the jar. (It was an anti negative energies Jar) and i put it within the jar with the other ingredients, and sealed it off. When I was supposed to sprinkle it over the finished jar as a wash away.

The other one I was supposed to seal with black wax and not white wax. It didn’t specify in the ingredients, but below the image. Did I mess them up? Or does it not matter? I want to get better at spell jars and Candle Magick, but it’s hard… But I see everywhere that your spells and creations are as strong as you and Magick is easy so long as You set your mind to it.

Imo you shouldn’t put any kind of water in a spell jar unless your goal is for it to rot. Also, think of premade spells like a recipe, you can change ingredients to better match your needs and tastes.

Spells jars can be any combination you need then to be. So don’t worry too much about the order and ingredients.

Wouldn’t worry about it too much! You can put certain intentions into any ingredient really. As you research and learn more, you’ll be able to attach your own intentions to each ingredient a lot easier. Maybe meditate over each bottle and place your intentions again for the different ingredients you used?

This stuff is all made up, you can literally do whatever you want. you just have to believe in it, that’s where the power comes from. So probably these spells won’t be effective as you are doubting yourself.

it’s not a step by step thing, like you’re not gonna get in trouble for adding diff ingredients. it’s actually good if you add your own flair to other peoples spells.

Within colour magic, white can be used instead of any other colour. This dates back to when you would only get white candles. Black is still technically a colour, so won’t be any negative effect there.

dont sweat it man! spell jars are a really safe bet for starting off. just because someone put one thing in a spell doesnt mean you have to do it the same

Early in my practice, i saw a spell that included Way Too Much Saffron. like, i didnt have money for that, and even if i did why would i waste my money on that?? so, i didn’t. i snagged the stamens off a couple red daylillies and chucked em in. worked perfectly fine in spite of my admittedly lazy substitution

The only thing I would’ve done differently is gently smear the rain/moon water on the jar after the spell is complete because it will have the same effect. Spell jars can have any combination, there is no “correct” order to do them.

In my recent work I forgot to add a crystal to the spell I was doing so I just set it on top of the jar and it works fine.

Moon water works just as fine as rainwater because they are both used to cleanse. as long as you have the same intention set on the type of water you are using.

I mostly make recipes up myself for spell jars using things I’ve already got (I don’t like buying new materials unnecessarily). It doesn’t have to be specific. Also intention is probably the most important part over specific ingredients imo 🙂

I just think it’s all about your intention while performing the spells and rituals. I study the herbs, crystals and rituals but usually make up my own spell jars following a recipe loosely. I even write my own spells and translate them into Latin bc it feels really powerful when I speak the words.
