This is a weird sounding question, I know, but please bear with me here.
While I don’t have a great relationship with my mother, I chose to tell her I was exploring tarot so we had some kind of common ground to discuss instead of family drama. It’s gone way better than I expected, for the first time she is being much more accepting of my autonomy, so I’m rolling with it. She was taught what I can only describe as “the old school way”. She spent a LOT of time with a mentor who taught her how to read based almost entirely off of intuition and opening herself empathetically to her querent to pull information, only lightly taking into consideration what the cards traditionally mean.Does this style sound familiar to any of you? Are there any resources you can point me towards to learn more about it? Books, online communities, etc. My mom is not in a place where she can teach me (nor do I want her as a mentor) but I do feel drawn to this style of reading and would like to understand it better and explore it a bit. I’m honestly still an absolute noob – but my nerd side is insisting I dig further.
It would be great to find a local community for this kind of thing but I’m not sure I should be pursuing that until the pandemic has gotten under control. That being said, if anyone knows of welcoming communities in Chicago, I’d be open to checking them out as well. Thanks!
