Is it possible for a spirit to manifest itself as a physical human again temporarily?

I heard a story about a boy that was saved by an angel that came to him as a physical human. So I was wondering if spirits can do this too.

I don’t think so, since a spirit doesn’t have the same manifestation powers as an angel, which is already a resident of a higher plane; whereas a spirit is a visitor to our realm, an angel can traverse freely.

Why not? Who are any of us to say we have a clear understanding of how this type of energy works.
Maybe the boy assisted in manifesting the energy, as an extension of his own soul or the collective unconscious? Maybe it was a passed loved one. Maybe it was an angel. To say anyone can define such for certain or understands all the rules of this energy has unlocked the mystery of life.
