I’ve recently discovered this sub and I really love it here. It’s very cozy and just kinda…safe feeling if that makes sense-and even more I love the supportive empowering culture surrounding neo-pagan ideas and magick however I am agnostic (I am open to all ideas and religions as long as they aren’t harmful but don’t particularly believe in or practice one myself).

I’m just wondering if there’s anything like that in this community because again I’m very new to this. Any help is appreciated and I’m sorry if I just sound extremely stupid (I use she/they pronouns btw, just in case)

Not only is it possible, it’s common! I practice secular witchcraft, personally. While witchctaft is a very broad term and everyone will experience it differently, my experience is that the common theme with witchcraft is actively engaging with the energy of the world around you. Sometimes that includes deities, but deities are not a requirement.

If you want to, feel free to DM me and we can talk more about specifics!!

I’m a secular practitioner myself. You might check out Atheopaganism or Non-theistic Witchcraft. No deity work or worship. Rituals are more about self care than appeasing a pantheon. It’s really whatever you want to make of it. Don’t feel pressured to use crystals or divination tools if they don’t speak to you. I mostly just use shells and rocks I find around my house and other bits of nature.

Witchcraft and shamanisn can be considered methodologies, which can be used with or without religious beliefs

    Absolutely!

If by “religion” you’re speaking to the whole “existence of and belief in gods/goddesses” thing, that is not necessary. Some branches of witchcraft believe in deities, some don’t. You can 100% be an atheist/agnostic witch. You can interact with deities as archetypes rather than as ‘real’ things.

If by “religion” you mean the whole “organized belief system and belonging to a set group” thing, that is also not necessary. Some people follow a specific path of witchcraft with a dogma and orthodoxy to adhere to and an organized community, some don’t. You can be a solitary/eclectic practicing witch. You can pick and choose your own way (of course being mindful of some traditions which are closed practices and you should not take from if you don’t belong to that community) and practice in a way that is completely unique to you.

Witchcraft is a practice, not a religion.
