I just noticed that the so called “bear market” (=stock prices declining for a prolonged time) correlates with Jupiter Retrograde: the bear market started in June, and expected to end by October, and Jupiter is in retrograde between July and November. Out of curiosity I checked the dates on the 2008 financial crash, and found that the Jupiter retrograde that year started in May, the stock market went to a freefall in June. Jupiter turned direct on 8th of September, and a week later Lehman Brothers crashed, that is said to be the climax of the crisis. Within a month Emergency Economic Stabilisation Act is passed, and even though the fallout will last for years, the immediate crisis is over.

Am I just projecting this, or is there a correlation between Jupiter and the world economic cycles? Jupiter is associated with good luck, fortune, wealth, growth, and even blind optimism and overconsumption, so it would make sense to me. I didn’t find any sources on the topic, most articles only care about the personal and emotional aspects of Jupiter Retrograde, not the mundane ones.

2008 is when Pluto went from Sagittarius to Capricorn. Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter there was free spending, over optimism etc. Capricorn is when the bills are due.

I told clients to get out of the stock market. Make sure you are not in debt etc and those people who listened were fine.

A couple of months before the crash, I got a call from my small insurance policy agent. Wanted me to put a lot more money in and put it in the stock market. I had already had several wanting me to mortgage my paid off house and put it in the stock market!

I told him no. It is going to crash in March. He called me in May and asked me how I knew. I said and I quote ” Pluto went into Capricorn, duh” There were some other things at the exact time but I don’t remember now, but that was the main one.

If I had mortgaged the house in an attempt to “get rich” I would have lost everything.

World economy has a lot more to do with North Node and South Node transits right now, especially come late October and early November during Solar and Lunar eclipses in Scorpio and Taurus. Big change is coming to financial structure around that time and has been leading there for a while. Uranus retrograde too. Also, look up Merriman Financial Analyst, he’s got cool information on markets using astrology every week

Jupiter being associated with ‘fortune’ on a large scale, this makes sense to me.

Might be worth going back even further to see if the pattern sustains, but very interesting!

Research (enough of it) establishes the patterns – and patterns are empirically utilized in science – so why not astrology. Every workshop, webinar and book worth its salt in astrology has loads of historical data to make the connections. This is great research – keep it up! You just really made a great case.

I never noticed that correlation but I think you’re onto something. I was just thinking this morning about how much I love Jupiter. People don’t get how he works. He doesn’t bring in good fortune, luck, or expansion—he removes what is blocking it. Any time you make room for expansion, expansion happens. During the years of my Jupiter Return he always removes people I’m close to, because it happens in my 7th house. He does that so a more high vibrational relationship can come in. He truly is the planet of blessings in disguise, because he gets rid of what people are desperately clinging to.
