    1. If your post cannot present this idea (for yourself or others to learn) then it does not add to the progression of witchcraft and will be removed.
    2. Images are allowed on Saturdays and Sundays and Rule 1 applies.
    1. On **Saturdays** ***ONLY***: Any witchcraft-related image may be posted. All rules must still be respected, though on **SATURDAYS** ***ONLY*** Rule 1 will be relaxed.
    3. New accounts must have enough karma to post a new thread to the board.
    2. **Be nice.**

    3. Both Crusading and Gatekeeping are exclusionary ideals and will result in a ban. How long depends on the severity.

    Hello! Love the rules on this subreddit. I’m currently getting into witchcraft on a serious level and about to start my own grimoire. I plan on being more active in this sub and looking forward to learning a lot.

    What does “baby witch” mean? I’m assuming it means witches that are new and learning about the subject on a serious level for the first time?

    Also if I were to post updates on my grimoire, would it be on image sat/sundays? It will be very illustration focused 🙂

    Would a question asking opinions about something related to witchcraft be okay? As an example asking opinions on witches using a ouija board solo

    Okay so A: I plan on starting a YouTube series about witchcraft basics. Does that go against rule 1 even though the content is in the video and a brief description will accompany the post? The videos will be incredibly informative and have accompanying blog posts. B: why are images only allowed on Saturdays and Sundays? C: why do new accounts have to wait to post? And D: so if we are to share an experience about a spell or ritual we HAVE to include the spell??? What if it was a negative experience and a spell others should not be using? Or perhaps a family spell that the person wouldn’t want to share but the experience was important? Is explaining the type of magickal working enough? I get why we would have these rules, the first part just seems a little specific and aggressive to me, not to offend! The energy seems kind of unwelcoming and I would really appreciate some clarification.

    Im so new to reddit I don’t really understand how this karma stuff works on here. I tried posting a question but it said I don’t have enough karma, sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask about it.

    A comment and clarification on the rule, **_Respect Others’ Beliefs_**.

    Inherent in the rule **_Respect Others’ Beliefs_** is the expectation that our community members respect the beliefs of cultures that are not their own.

    That means that we expect that (for example) a white person with no Native American Tribal affiliation, not be representing that what they are doing in their practice, is Native American beliefs.

    That’s express, and inherent, and a clear and bright boundary.

    There are some necessary breakouts under that rule, for clarification.

    This comment and clarification is about subsection 2, “Crusading and/or Gatekeeping will result in a ban. ”

    Some people have chosen to fixate on this clause to the exclusion of all else in our rules, and eisegesise it to mean “Cultural appropriation is permitted here” — which is both false and ridiculous.

    There exists in this community no Duty to Rebuke and Reproof.

    What exists in this community, in the stead of the Duty to Rebuke and Reproof, is a particular kind of Gatekeeper — a Gatekeeper who is not a Person, but a Law: **_Respect Others’ Beliefs_**.

    This Law prevents:

    * Proselytisation;
    * [Sea-lioning](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning);
    * [Karpman Drama Triangle dynamics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpman_drama_triangle);
    * Other types of Dramatic, Derailing Power Plays that serve the Ego (or Id) (or Shadow) (or [insert your metaphor for ulterior motive here]) at the expense of the legitimate purpose of this community.

    The FIRST RULE of this community is that all posts must ADD to the progression of witchcraft. In synergy with the third rule, Respect Others’ Beliefs, that has the effect that if a method, skill, knowledge, or idea is presented to this community, that the person doing so is inherently representing that they have a _right_ to do so.

    If you _reasonably believe_ that someone making a post or comment in this subreddit is **_Disrespecting Others’ Beliefs_**,

    #Report it

    — if the moderators can also see that it is disrespecting others’ beliefs, then we will take appropriate action.

    Highjacking cultural identities that aren’t yours will result in us showing you the door.

    Flipside:

    Initiating a power struggle and slapfight between yourself and the person you claim is disrespecting others’ beliefs will get you shown the door as well.

    This is not a space for selling (or expropriating) someone else’s cultural identity (Rule 7), nor is it a space for conducting any rituals — and “You’ve been caught with your hand in the cookie jar; you’ve been a very naughty boy/girl/non-binary pal indeed, time for your spankings, come bend over mommy’s/daddy’s knee” is, assuredly, a ritual.

    This community doesn’t consent to this ritual being played out in public here; We don’t consent to recruiting people to this ritual here; We don’t consent to opportunists taking a likely opening to self-insert and twist someone’s arm into participating in this ritual.

    There’s other communities where you can advertise and people will — of their own free will — participate in this ritual.

    It is not, and will not be, here.

    We’re here for recipes, not recitals.

    Can I ask a question abt the ‘crusading’ rule ?

    Are you allowed to tell someone who is using a closed practice in their own craft that they’re culturally appropriating or not, or do we report that to the sub mod or just Reddit, in general ? / gen

    I’m confused, can someone explain this ? / gen (‘ / gen ‘ is a tone indicator meaning ‘/ genuine’ ).

    Hi, I can’t seem to find a way to contact mods. I posted RE being new to practicing and wanting to move into spells where I am able to encourage positive interactions between myself and those in my assessment group at uni, but it got deleted? What should I do?

    Thanks x
