hi! my friend was gifted these and told they are tarot cards, anyone have any info on them?

they’re plastic, red backs
box says diamond on it

This is not a Tarot deck, this is a Japanese traditional playing cards deck called [Hanafuda](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanafuda). There should be 48 cards though, with 12 suits corresponding to 12 months of the year (each month is represented by a type of flower/plant).

There are lots of games you can play with these cards. I grew up playing a sort of solitaire with them. The sets/suits are only 4 cards each, so not sure they would work out so well for tarot readings. I don’t know if they have any meaning for divination.
