Deck: The Halloween Tarot by Karin Lee and Kipling West.

I’ve been glued to the news lately, so last night I decided to do a reading to clarify and hopefully settle my thoughts on everything that’s going on in my country since last week. This is what I drew. I had to laugh, because normally I find this deck a bit hard to read, but this was like getting bonked over the head.

I’m still a beginner, but here are my thoughts. If anyone would like to weigh in I’d be interested to hear your interpretation as well, but mostly just sharing because of how on-the-nose it was.

The Wheel of Fortune: Fate coming to its inevitable conclusion. This card makes me think: “Well well well… if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions.” This guy is such a normie, too. I don’t think anyone else in the deck looks like this.

Death: If I read this with the traditional meaning, as a major ending, sweeping change and rebirth, this is a positive card I think! However the art is kind of giving me a “you reap what you sow” feeling.

The Hierophant: Social structures, norms prevailing. I’m not sure if I find this to be a positive card. I notice the full vine and the withered vine on either side. I think there are different paths forward from here and we need to consider where each will lead us.

When I see the Hierophant preceded by the Death I think of periods like the renaissance, which came after the dark ages and brought a new order with innovation in all sorts of areas. Maybe USA will have an “American renaissance” in a minor scale.

The Heirophant *is* the card of 2021, numerologically speaking. I think we can read it as realignment with a higher order, after a year of being at the whim of the Emperor’s fickle powers.

I read this as a break of the natural order of things for an imposition of traditionalistic views and attitudes.

Rather than simply being a return to the social norms, is it possible that in this case the Hierophant represents using the lessons that were learned during the process of death? So that we’d have the ability to make things better than what they were before things went downhill. 😮

I did a reading today but it wasn’t a past present and future one. Just wanted a simple answer to “what’s going on in the US?” And I pulled the devil in the upright position. It made me think of all the political stuff going on.

I did a similar reading (for new years) reviewing 2020 and how 2021 is looking like, I drew The Tower, Death, and The Hierophant.

A return to “conventional” practice re: politics. I think that’s a pretty good thing considering the clusterfuck of the last 4 years. Trump was very much all the dark side of the Emperor card. With the hierophant we get a person of authority but the emphasis is on values.

My two cents – Wheel is Jupiter- recent conjunction. Death – Pluto – US is about to hit its first Pluto return, do some Googling on that because it’s FASCINATING! Heirophant is the card that represents 2021 – 2+0+2+1 = 5.

I did a celtic cross spread inquiring about the state of the US and saw the Magician reversed manipulating the masses into thinking that the King of Pentacles reversed is really an upright King of Wands.. forthcoming was the chaos of the Moon as people react out of fear and illusion, and the final outcome card was the Hanged Man reversed. I don’t feel super positive about normalcy returning very soon. It feels like the lessons are not yet learned. just my two cents!

That seems spot on! My card-of-the-day pull on January 6 was The Emperor reversed. I wasn’t really feeling it until I saw the news later that day.
