questions about offerings

when burning incense for offerings (or to summon or communicating with demons (or other entities)) how do you put them out if you have to leave?

let’s say ppl light candles but don’t blow them out, they just put something over the flame to put it out.

how would someone put out an incense that wouldn’t ruin a spell or offering?

I would suggest you gently press it out. Use a spoon back, or anything you can basically snuff out the entire thing. Assuming you’re using a cone incense. For stick, I’ll gently smudge it out. And for resin, I’d suggest you bury it in sand. (I rest my resin on sand to burn – if you dont, I’m not sure how you could extinguish it)

I don’t put them out. If I decide to offer e.g. some incense by burning, I prepare the right amount and only then I commence the ritual. And I make sure to actually have time for the ritual before starting it.

To me, killing the Flame would be like giving only half of an offering. Especially with demons it is all or nothing.
On a more technical note – I guess it’d be possible to explain in time, then killing the flame and starting the ritual from scratch at another more convenient moment.

I have a spoon that I use to snuff out candles. I jokingly all it my “witch spoon” as that’s apparently a thing lol

I like to use some water to turn off my incense. You could maybe make moonwater specifically for this purpose, that way your intention still keeps going as an offering until you are able to light the incense again.

First off I blow out my candles don’t really believe in that taboo. I just extinguish it against the metal of my cauldron

dip it in the water on my altar, or break the tip off.

but honestly, I just let them burn down.
