Relationship with deities – something I’ve been thinking about

There is a fair amount of advice out there that frames working with deities (and other spirits) somewhat transactionally and stresses that they are not like us.

I get the idea of approaching gods with respect and understanding that they are not our friends and parents. But the personal feeling I have when I connect with a higher power is often profound and feels loving. Is there no place for divine love and connection in witchcraft?
