I am so sorry for your loss. I kept my golden retrievers collar and wrapped it around her urn, it still smells like her. You might think I am weird, but I sometimes smell her collar to remember her. Sending hugs.

I’m so sorry. I had to said goodbye to my own dark-haired sunbathing canine sidekick earlier this year. It’s really hard. They’re such a big part of our lives.
Please take care of yourself. That includes experiencing your grief as much as you need. Honor your love for each other. It’s a precious thing. I can feel it just from these pictures and your words. Your love and his love will live on.
It’s kind of a broken metaphor, but I like to think of the [Trafalmadorians from Slaughterhouse Five](https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/382202-the-most-important-thing-i-learnt-on-tralfamadore-was-that). As time passes, and I see more photos and videos from my buddy’s younger days, I’m brought back to those memories and the moments they represented. And… it’s nice. And I remember that it’s a beautiful sunny day, and I should take a moment to stretch out in the grass.
