This is so infuriating… also now women are getting surgery to be thin or look curvy. Which is dangerous as hell.

Bodies are not fashion. Saw a headline in one of those tabloids by the checkouts the other day saying “This is Back In.”

Just stop. Bodies, thin, thick, whatever, are not fashion and cannot be changed to fit current trends. Everyone is beautiful, and I thought we were getting to that point where as long as you were healthy (not engaging in an eating disorder), you shouldn’t have to try and change the way you were.

What you are is never enough, but they are willing to sell you something to get you to think it will get you there.

My favorite is eyebrows – one mistake with the tweezers or razor and it’s months to fix, but they are never arched right, or thin enough or thick enough or shaped right. But there’s a bunch of product you can spends hundreds a year on to fake your way to what ever is in vogue today.

And body shape? Genes say the way fat goes on my body. No amount of yeast or what ever will make my chest bigger. My hips are wide. No amount of exersize will make them narrower. But the multibillion dollar industry will spend a lot of time and money trying to tell me my shape is wrong. And if I would just try their products, my shape would be what ever today says it should be.

My grandmother often told me how desperately hard she tried to put on weight when she was young. She was natural very slim and she’d eat chocolate and drink loads of full cream milk to try gain weight.

Ironized yeast adds 5 cup sizes apparently. I’m sending a complaint to Bragg’s.

My body is not a fast fashion trend. It is a body, and it shouldn’t have to change to match the ideals of a few corporations idea of what the ideal appearance is.

It’s so arbitrary too. The skinny standard only came about because clothes companies found it was cheaper to make the sample clothes smaller and the models had to follow suit

This is why I hate size shaming .

The goldilocks figure for “Mens taste” not only keeps changing but also veers towards unrealistic standards ALWAYS. It’s like men have this ability to pick out out the rarest and hardest figure to achieve.

“Let us put this very heavy woman as a goddess and ideal woman figurine in times of agricultural famines “ in the ancient times and now “ Let us put this absurdly unrealistic body type which would be impossible to achieve without legit starving in times of food security “ in these modern times.

The only solution to the patriarchy and all of their controlling bullshit that will help women is this …

*It’s to teach women not to give two shits about what other people think when it comes to our own body, our own choices and our own lives. To do only what makes us happy and content and to put up with zero bullshit in any other direction.*

If we don’t heed nem, we don’t react to them, we ignore and shun their control and their ideas and their influence en masse, there is no way for them to get to us.

Yes, I get that this is a big ask. Educating women is paramount here. And it’s my goal in life now. Women have been conditioned to care too much about what others think, particularly nem. The only way is to cut that off.

This is what I’m teaching my daughter. There is really no other way.

The worst part of this shit is… that it’s still focused on being worthy through the male gaze. I can’t tell if those pictures are the same women with some sort of editing- or two different women dressed to look the same. But both pictures are fucking drop dead gorgeous- yet one is deemed unattractive?

Seriously, give us a break. We need to stop defining our worth by the sex appeal we inspire in the ever-changing lense of what advertisement. Like this ad- they’re trying to sell us shit as a cure for a disease they made up. The sexiest thing any person can be is confident- and the road to confidence starts with loving that your body is doing an AMAZING job of keeping your wet bits inside, having some muscles that move, and having all of these super fucking cool sensors like touch, taste, sight, smell, or whatever you have.

There was a meme a while ago about how we are all ghosts piloting a mechsuit made from meat and bones, riding a rock thats being hurled through space at the whim of a bigger rock on fire and… I dunno I think about that a lot. It just helped me get over a lot of the shame instilled in me.
