The Lord of Sorrow
…
This card is dark and heavy; it is, so to speak, the womb of Chaos. There is an intense lurking passion to create, but its children are monsters. This may mean the supreme transcendence of the natural order. Secrecy is here, and Perversion.
— Crowley, The Book of Thoth
….this is actually the 2nd of two versions of this. But….due to the no gallery rule Im using the more important of the two…..
…I have chosen to represent the 3 of Swords with an anotomical study, signifying that there are no disguises or attempts to romanticise the issues that brought you here, as the 3 of swords is a card of Acknowledgement, Reassessment, and Understanding.
Its role is to assist you in looking at the situation with a clinical eye, to see what isnt working and what is stopping you from moving forward into a place of forgiveness.
The card is a card of action, it exists amongst a storm of heavy, thunderous rains and an exolosion of petals from the hearts rose. We must go forward, go onward, and do not Dwell. When we dwell on our troubles, the greater the power they have over us, to limit our journeys and cause us harm.
There may be days when things are pretty Grim. There can be no illusions about it.
Today is not Love Hearts and Sunshowers and Rainbows on your window.
One day, everything will be well. That is our way to release and forgiveness.
Today, everything is fine, that is our illusion.
…
The second image here is my attempt to illustrate that with Resilience and acceptance of change, what can be broken can be put back together, made stronger, and more beautiful through honouring its scars.
I tried using the imagery of the Japanese art of Kintsugi.to show this. I didn’t really have a Gold Pen handy, so I made do with what was on hand.
….
There is nothing to be gained from hiding what is not perfect.Things fall apart sometimes.
But if you are wise, you can use every broken piece, and patch yourself up, and keep going..
I hope this helps.
