I’ll be honest, I don’t quite get the 11th house. I’ve read books, studied keywords and rulership and whatnot. My wife even has an 11th house moon. I just don’t feel like I understand that house at a visceral level like I do most of the others. It’s no coincidence that I feel sort of the same way about Aquarian energy. As for my own natal chart, I have Uranus in the 11th, and it is the only placement that I haven’t been able to really connect with and observe its effects. The great Stephen Forrest wrote that having Uranus in the 11th enabled one to “feel kinship with the entire human race.” Frankly, in my case, few things could be farther from the truth. The only interpretation of this placement I’ve ever seen that somewhat resonated with me was friendships with eccentric people and/or with people of many different backgrounds. Anyone else have this placement and feel connected with it, please share your experience.
Hmm, don’t think I’d ever draw that conclusion about uranus in 11th. I’d see it more as a pattern of change involving groups, associations, alliances, colleagues, our goals or hopes and wishes, etc. And friends. I might see uranus in the 11th as a way of having or being a changing or disruptive force in groups – whatever kind of group that is. An astrology organization, hehe, a professional one, a religious one, a sports one. Any kind of organization, or group. It also shows us our friends group, and what the person’s attitudes are regarding friendships. So yes, perhaps friends that are somehow different than for others. It can also show us our fan base, if we are a performer or public person of some kind.
This is a succedent house – that’s why the hopes and wishes – because succedent houses are “rising up to” the cardinal houses, in this case the 10th – where we see our public reputation, our career, etc (not just career).
11th house is not an Aquarian house. Houses and signs are not tied together. So, you’d need to look at the sign on your 11th. And particularly, to the traditional ruler of the sign on your 11th house cusp (I’d recommend you use whole sign houses for this, though you can certainly use whatever you want – I find rulers via whole sign speak more accurately to the house matters). And then investigate that ruling planet to gain much more info about that house. Also note: it’s possible that changing to whole sign houses may put your uranus into a different house.
As for your wife, you might try thinking about the moon as either what is nurtured, or where we feel safe and comfortable, or where we tend to find that spot of comfort. Perhaps friends are more important to her than to others. Or belonging to a group of some sort, formal or otherwise. All depends of course, on other factors impacting that moon.
