What cards do you have a special connection to that’s different than the usual explanation?

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amMine’s Four of Pentacles too – it’s usually taken to mean being miserly and needing to loosen up, but I often read it as meaning conserving your resources and avoiding burnout (I don’t associate Pentacles only with money).

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amFour of Cups. I always see it read as being dissatisfied with the many things you’re being offered, but I often read it as waiting for something that’s right for you. Maybe other people read it that way too idk, but the general “dissatisfaction” doesn’t really vibe with me

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 am7 of Swords. I pulled this card to a daily tarot challenge question, What are you successful at? My first thought was nope, definitely not. I can’t lie to save my life, and deceiving others to get ahead won’t sit well with me.
But after a bit of reflection, I realized that The Seven of Swords tells me that I’m good at working alone and using my wits to get around tricky situations. I don’t believe in hard work, I believe in smart work. It’s gotten me to where I am today.
I can see why someone who chooses smart work over hard work tends to be viewed with suspicion. It’s an unfair advantage to achieve the same results with less time and less effort. This also makes me think of how foreigners are typically accused of “stealing jobs” by conservative nationalists (something I can relate to as a foreign professional living in a mildly xenophobic country).
I do think that if the task is ethically accomplished with due credit to others involved, there’s no point in hard work for hard work’s sake. If there’s a smarter, faster way to the goal, I’ll take it.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amMine is five of swords! The imagery of the mystic Monday’s deck reminds me of 5 people joining their swords together in a sign of togetherness!
I feel as though the suit of swords has a particularly negative spin to it, and I enjoy thinking of more neutral or positive readings!

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amI have this weird theory about The Chariot and Adjustment, which started when I pulled them Inn the center of a Celtic Cross reading. I think that Adjustment is about taking things in and judging them as worthy/valuable/good. It’s about modifying ones goals and knowing what it means to be true to yourself. If you were sailing toward a star, Adjustment would help you keep on course as the winds change. This is a pretty standard reading since Adjustment is associated with law, fairness, harmony, balance, etc.
However, the The Chariot is about how the world and the querent work together to navigate, and the ways that the outside world affects our internal sense of judgement. The Chariot represents chaotic reality that we must move through to remain true to ourselves, but also the chaotic reality that shaped our wants and desires to begin with. It is anything that we utilize to get to our destination.
It’s like I think Adjustment is something that only happens within us, and The Chariot is everything we do in the world as a result of our Adjustments, and they are both always playing together in an endless cycle.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amThe Page of Pentacles follows me all the time and I take it as “Humble yourself girl and learn from someone today instead of thinking you know it all about the world” 🙂

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amFor me, the reversed high priestess is always funny to get because it always comes to say “stop doing tarot so much we can’t help you at the moment” like some sort of cosmic busy signal. Also I think a lot of cards can have traditionally doom and gloom interpretation but it’s better to look at things more in relation to your situation rather than look at it as predicting disaster.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amThe *queen of wands*/rods always seems to be telling me about my natural strengths, reminding me to lean into what I’m good at. I identify with the card and it shows up in a lot of my readings for myself, but not my readings for others.
The *star* shows up when I’m failing to care for myself, failing to engage in creative pursuits, and need resist my overly practical nature, my stubbornness, my hyper focus, my wear myself ragged tendencies. I take a bath and then start a maker-type activity to engage with myself.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amI love the Death card! A few tarot illustrators I’ve talked to have said the same thing, so maybe it’s not an unpopular opinion, but I’ve always seen it being about moving on from something and beginning something new. Not always easy, but almost always necessary and amazing in the long run. The rebirth is worth the death.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amThe Horned God from the Green Witch deck. Supposed to be The Emperor. I don’t normally connect with the Emperor in other decks, but when I use my Green Witch deck the Horned God follows me often, usually when I need reassurance of protection.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 am7 of cups. From what I understand it means daydreaming and imagining unrealistic goals, but when I get it it’s a reminder for me that my anxiety or the things I’m worried about aren’t real or won’t happen. Pretty similar to 9 of swords but 7 of cups is more gentle to me.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amThe eight of Swords because I hold myself back because I’m afraid to look at my situation.

GuestFebruary 1, 2021 at 3:03 amThe lovers. A lot of people enjoy reading it as relationships and emotional connections, but for me I more identify it as a card of independence.
Learning about yourself. Questioning and coming to your own conclusions. Coming to an understanding of what is important to you, what you value, and what you are willing to commit to so you can then find relationships and paths that best suit you.
