I’ve heard things like “when this planet is in retrograde, don’t try to manifest anything” or “when this planet is in retrograde, you’ll probably feel very tired”

So what would you say is something you should/shouldn’t do and/or expect for when specific planets are in retrograde?

I don’t pay attention to anything but mercury rx really. Mars sometimes, just because its rx period means it stays in a limited area for so very much longer than normal (6 or 7 months vs 6 weeks), and because…it’s mars.

But with mercury rx, I do avoid certain purchases, if possible, like of electronic equipment, a car, etc. And I avoid signing contracts if possible.

But if any of those things are necessary, then that’s fine. And what matters is just realizing you need to be much more diligent. Read the contract several times, very carefully. Get everything in writing. Not much you can do about certain kinds of purchases, if you can’t wait. Just do some good research first, no impulse buys. Check reviews, etc. Make sure you have recourse if it goes bad, ie ability to return it.

***But what most people never seem to consider, is whether mercury rx actually makes any impacts to their natal charts.*** Just anything and everything that goes wrong gets blamed on the retrograde, and that’s nonsense. People don’t even look at what other transits they may have going on. It’s just all heaped on the retrograde.

If merc rx is conjunct the ruler of my 2nd house, I’d not be making any major financial decisions, or purchases if I could help it. If it is square the ruler of my 9th house, I’d not book a plane trip. If the rx was happening in my 6th house, and conjunct a planet there, I’d not schedule elective surgery. If it’s opposing my own mercury, I’d not choose this time to have a big, difficult family or work discussion. Just common sense.

But if the transit doesn’t hit anything in your natal? I’d not really think about it. As with all transits, what really matters is whether they actually hit something in our natal charts or not. And of course, life doesn’t stop. Sometimes we have no choice but to proceed, and in that case, the wisdom is to just be much more careful, more thorough, etc.

It depends on what house/sign it is in and how it will impact you tbh.

just live your life as usual. tbh I very rarely notice anything different. only time I can remember is when my flight and then bus got delayed during mercury rx but that’s it

retrograde to me means dont jump to conclusions. dont be quick to place blame or look for answers outside yourself. its all about internal passes and scans

ive seen recently that only certain retrogrades will affect you depending on some timing techniques- like if you are in a aries profection year, then mars transits and retrogrades will be a bigger deal this year etc.

I think the best way to tell what you can expect is to look at past retrogrades compared to your natal chart, and just note down in a timeline anything notable that happened or started at those times. that will hopefully give you a flavour of what to expect for future retrogrades

You should keep living life as usual. The retrogrades last far too long to be avoidant because of some internet rumors not based on astrology.

You should just live your life as always. The retrograde cycles vary widely and are gonna be mostly inconsequential to you. The meaning of a specific retrograde depends on your birth chart, honestly. For that you need to start studying natal astrology and transits or book a chart reading with a professional astrologer. There is no one size fits all in astrology.

With retrogrades, you should expect to see the lessons you’ve been learning come back around. Retrogrades often test how much we’ve been working on ourselves. You have an opportunity to close out cycles of growth in the area of the planet that’s retrograding, and may find yourself revisiting things you’ve had to face in the past.

You should carry on as usual during them, and if you find yourself re encountering things that you thought you’d moved past, take some time to reflect on that and to consider whether you’re choosing to repeat certain patterns or if you’ve moved on to a new way of dealing with things. The amount of trouble you encounter during a retrograde should be reflective of the growth you’ve done in that area, which is to say, if you’ve been working on yourself the retrogrades won’t be too hard on you.
