Who is the Emperor to you?

In your experience, who has been the emperor to you? What kind of person in your life represented the emperor? Was it a good person or a bad person? Was it a man or a woman?Were you afraid of them? Were they controlling, bossy or humble? Were they someone you look up to are someone you don’t respect? Were they someone important to you or you didn’t care about them at all?

For me, I can’t see the emperor other than a fatherly figure I can’t wrap my head around it I just see boundaries and control nothing else I can’t see beyond this I would love to see your thoughts on this card to get a fresh/different perspective!

The emperor for me never represented a person but always represented discipline, structure and organization but sometimes also self-criticism or harshness

I always got the emperor with a guy I dated for awhile. he was fairly older than me and I did care about him a lot. I learned to find out that he is very subtle with his bossiness and controlling. he also had somewhat of a superiority complex, he doesn’t see himself as a knight or king, he sees him self as the emperor.

The Emperor sometimes represents my husband, to me. In general, though, I see the Emperor as representing foundation, stability, leadership, will-power, perseverance.

I really like James Ricklef’s blog. He says, about the Emperor: A need for structure and order — but we run the risk of being limited or rigid.  We try to force our square understandings into the round holes of reality.  We should seek to be more flexible, allowing for “I’m not sure” to be part of our understanding.

i always get the emperor when i’m doing a love reading for myself, so i tend to associate him with men i’m romantically involved with (the empress often shows up in those readings too)

despite being a woman i see myself a lot in that card too.

I’ve seen the good sides as someone who likes soft domination, my favorite doms appear as the emperor.

But in negative views, I see them as selfish, their way or the highway, unwilling to adapt or change

I only have once. I did a reading for the first time after my ex/kid’s father finally moved out after splitting with him. He was represented by The Emperor reversed. He was pretty controlling, manipulative, and constantly had to remind people that he was “a real man.” Everyone else who seemed to remotely challenge him in his eyes was put down, deemed a “beta male” and talked shit about. Even after we split he was like this for a long time.

Anytime I’ve pulled The Emperor since, it’s never really related to a person. More so a situation or reaction to one. But that card for him, especially at the time, fit like a glove.
