I decided to Google my grandfather’s name because I was watching the British antiques roadshow and it was something dealing with WWII which made me think of him. I came across an LDS website that has genealogy info for free. I went down a rabbit hole. Hello ADHD!! Anyway… My grandmother was an Estey. Her father was William, born in 1870. His father was also William. Older William’s dad was Aaron Estey III, his daddy was Aaron Estey II, then we have the first. His father was Isaac Estey Jr. Lil Isaac’s dad was obviously Isaac Estey Sr, but his mama was Mary Towne Estey… Killed in the Salem witch trials. Hello, wat?? Someone someplace in the family has done a lot of research. Parts of the family history go all the way back to 1110. So kudos to them. If you Google my 7th great grandmother, you’ll learn a bit about her. She really probably wasn’t a witch. Puritans wouldn’t even like modern christians. That being said, I’m even more empowered to stand up for what’s good and right. Live and let live. Well behaved women seldom make history, right? Anyone else related?? Hello distant relatives!!

This is why: [link about Mormons and Genealogy](https://www.pbs.org/mormons/etc/genealogy.html:).

    >Mormons trace their family trees to find the names of ancestors who died without learning about the restored Mormon Gospel so that these relatives from past generations can be baptized by proxy in the temple. For Latter-day Saints, genealogy is a way to save more souls and strengthen the eternal family unit.

I fell down a genealogy rabbit hole in middle school. It was loads of fun but I psyched myself out once I got beyond all family knowledge. I started thinking of clerical errors and did I make any errors and what about informal adoptions…lol! I got back to the 1700s at least. Maybe someday I’ll start up again. We are English as all get out so I bet there were Puritans on one side or the other. šŸ˜¬

In the meantime I’ll enjoy my uncle’s announcement that we’re 60% Nordic*. Viking Age, much? Haha, skaal!

*That was a DNA test, by the way. More info to question!

Another excellent site for genealogy is geni.com. And once youā€™re on there with an account, and are linked in to established family trees, you can look up historical figures on google and geni will show the family link you have to them if one exists. For instance I can do a google search that says ā€œAbraham Lincoln on geniā€ and click the geni.com result, and it tells me if Iā€™m related to Lincoln and how Iā€™m related to him.

I never come up on any of those things. I had a very disrupted family so didnā€™t even know my grandparents, but even their names donā€™t appear when I search. I have concluded I was knitted by aliens.
