Do they hold much importance to a chart, in your opinion? Or is it the planets that is the sole focus?

I’m not a professional, but the nodes have been tremendously helpful in my personal self development. And eerily accurate too. I have NN Capricorn 6H and SN Cancer 12H. Reading about this axis gives me clarity on what my growth path should be, and the signs of me slipping back into my old comfortable ways.

I have never read a chart where someone’s Chiron wasn’t scarily accurate so yes. My north node and Chiron are conjunct in my first house so they are both very important to my chart I would say

Professional here: and the short answer is YES!

They are essentially crucial points in understanding comfort zones and growth zones, as well as sometimes paralyzing and devastating points of doubt, fear, and insecurity.

They add an extra level of depth and nuance that can speak very strongly to a native’s struggle and help to validate the experiences and encourage their wisdom.

I have a true crime astrology podcast, The Astrology Of… Podcast, that delves super deep into the charts of serial killers, and chiron has shown up as an especially critical player, especially when they’re committing crimes out of the space of their wound.

Which isn’t to say all shitty chiron placements will present such an extreme, but like, whew, that vulnerability can debilitate folks who don’t know how to do the Work.

I feel like they’re pretty heavy-hitters. It’ll depend on a person’s overall chart though and the types of aspects they have to their own personal NN/SN and Chiron. I imagine a person with relatively quiet activity around their Chiron would say they don’t give much weight to Chiron—”it’s just an asteroid” to them. But a person with a roughly aspected Chiron will tell you, “Oh, let’s *talk* about Chiron, my friend.”

Same goes for the NN/SN, I feel. I didn’t pay them much mind until I started learning more about astrology. Go figure, the aspects to my NN/SN are fairly light save for a few that make sense in hindsight. I still consider the nodes to be somewhat like blind spots to me. I’m sure they’re worth giving more weight to but I definitely think that if I’m reading someone else’s chart and see a lot of activity there, I as the reader would want to pay attention to it. Put weight on it.

So it varies from person to person.

As far as collective/electional though… everything I’ve seen since learning more about it tells me that they absolutely are worth watching in electional astrology.

I’m woefully ignorant on the part the nodes play in a chart outside the common understanding of the North by house and sign indicating the area of life you need to be moving towards and developing while the South shows what innate skills and talents you bring into this life which can help (or derail if you revert back to old patterns due to fear, comfort, etc.) your progress towards the North node significations.

Chiron for me is very prominent in my chart conjuncting my Ascendant so I may be biased on the emphasis I give him while looking at other charts. Personally I will always pay attention to the house it is in but don’t give it much weight unless it conjuncts/opposes an inner planet or angle.

I definitely think both of these are super important, and should be a big focus when doing chart readings for people (my unpopular opinion). One, because our north node is who we are supposed to become in this lifetime. It can give us clues on how to get there. Our Chiron, is our wound. It’s a wound so deep, that it affects how we view ourselves, how we operate in relationships, interact with family, etc (depending on your Chiron placement). If anything, researching information about my Chiron placement has been super helpful, and it makes sense (for context- I have a Scorpio Chiron in the 7th house) and the information has been spot on.

For my north node, which is Virgo in the 5th house, it makes me wonder, how can I achieve 5th house tings in the Virgo way? Because I am Leo sun and Mercury 5th houser. So essentially, my ego is striving to play out those 5th house tings, but my destiny is telling me that while it can be fun, it needs to be organized and done with discipline. It needs to make sense. That’s what I’m currently trying to figure out, how can I achieve that, when my Sun (ego) is doing things differently.

They are very important to me! North/South Nodes are your karmic lessons, getting out of your comfort zone to elevate your soul. Chiron helps you understand your deepest pain, its aspects show where it comes from, and its house shows where it surfaces in your life. Addressing trauma related to Chiron provides healing not only for you, but others you cross paths with. Difficult aspects that provide insight on my trauma help me decide what to work on in therapy, and illuminate spiritual goals that will provide me with blessings once met. I also want to have this trauma behind me before I have children, so Chiron maps it out a bit.

I give a lot of importance to Chiron. I am an Aries Sun, and Chiron has been in Aries since 2019. Everytime it goes retrograde (July – December) somthing happens, that makes me reflect on my self and what traits i should better. Like my temper and my Ego

I have my natal chart tattooed on my back. My chiron at 27′ Taurus sits near my midheaven at 22′ Taurus. It is a large tattoo, with the midheaven sitting right at the nape of my neck. Many years ago as a teenager I was involved in a severe car accident in which I suffered a concussion and whiplash to my neck. I was told that I could have problems in the future. Fast forward many years. I got the tattoo in 2014. In 2016 I was sitting at the kitchen table and my neck began to hurt, I reached back and rubbed the back of my neck, sending a sharp searing pain down my left arm. Three years later I am diagosed with bone spurs and impinged nerves on my C4 and C5 vertebrae in my neck. The tattoo of the glyph of Chiron sits in the exact spot where the damage is. Taurus rules the neckand shoulders. Chiron rules unhealed wounds.

Yes, I give much weight to Chiron. The vibe is real. The energy is very real.

Tldr:, the planetary energy of Chiron is powerful and very, very, deserving of recognition.

As a mom to a little kid, my daughter’s Pisces Chiron in 5H breaks my heart. Will her unhealable wound be lack of joy? Bad dating life? Infertility? Idk, but I just want to protect her from deep pain.

I’ll take note of them wherever they are, but give them much more attention if conjunct a planet or angle.

I’m not a professional but I use Pluto, Chiron, and the Nodes in natal and transit for self development and shadow work. I have books on these if you’re interested!

The natal nodes, and transiting eclipses, have become a huge focus for me both personally with my own chart and a major thing I look at in clients’ charts. Chiron is conjunct my north node so that goes hand in hand with that for me. In other people’s charts, I tend only to focus on Chiron (and other asteroids) if they’re prominently placed, usually only if conjunct a planet or point.

Your north node, South Node. And Chiron are key in understanding your souls purpose in this lifetime. Utilizing your SN to see what you have already accomplished in a past life, putting it towards what you are meant to master in your current lifetime. Your Chiron shows you your wound, what you may struggle with on a daily basis, and each wound is so different. When you understand your wound|placement, you can usually point it to a particular time within your early life when it was first felt. Mending and working on this wound, along with your north node to see how to be one with the world, is are the three biggest keys to success within a chart, besides actual planets. (midheaven is really important as well. Especially if it is conjunct with planets in your chart.)
