Awesome!
This pic led me down a deep Google rabbit hole, and wow. 30 minutes later I have to conclude that, while the helicopter story is obvious horseshit, the Princess of Ukok may be my new favourite mummy.

ETA: it’s really interesting. She was buried alone, when normally men and women were buried together, without weapons, signifying she wasn’t a warrior, and in a shirt of silk, more costly at that time than gold. And, after she was dug up, the region kept experiencing ground tremors.

This woman is from the same region as my culture! In our older practices women were often warriors and leaders. As I was taught growing up, femininity is intelligence and masculinity is strength (as according to our traditional roles). It’s very cool to see that a society potentially connected to my culture had such amazing practices and tattoos
Also to become a shaman one had to be chosen and initiated in very specific practices. I would love to learn how she was chosen, if she was a shaman. Many were chosen because they were struck by lightning or had a severe illness that marked them.
