A couple questions from a newb

This is my opinion based on my personal research not everyone has similar beliefs.
Familiars are spirits. They are real, and there’s a few different ways to obtain a familiar spirit.
Most of the time from what I’ve seen, meditating on “wanting a familiar to appear” and establishing that you have interest in working with a familiar spirit is the best way to summon one / get one to appear to work with.Personally I’d recommend trying to do some independent research on familiars before trying to get one. You should decide if *you even believe in them*. Since you seem to not be decided on whether you even believe in them or not.
Familiars aren’t going to be “real”. Like you aren’t going to find a familiar in the pound or wandering the streets or at the pet store. They are incorporeal, not corporeal. They may possess a physical body temporarily but it isn’t *their* body.
(*again just in case this is all my belief, based on my years of research. Not everyone has the same beliefs.*)

There’s two common takes on familiars. Typically they are not normal house pets. They can be similar to spirit guides and be from another plane or they can be physical wild animals. Depending on the type of familiar, your situation, and your craft, there’s different ways to connect. Some familiars come to the witch, some are passed down, some are met, and some are called.
