If you’re able to go to a metaphysical shop, they usually have pendulums there. Check them out, and one of them will probably jump out at you more than others. If you don’t feel like any are jumping out at you, you could even just pick the one that’s your favorite color, or a shape that you happen to like. There is no wrong one, really.
There are lots of books on pendulum dowsing for beginners, and diagrams for making easy pendulum boards if you don’t want to buy one.
I would suggest just practicing getting it moving before you try jumping into asking deep questions. Play with getting it to move the direction you’re asking, and stopping on command. When you feel like the movement ‘makes sense’, I’d ask the pendulum (even if it feels silly) to show you it’s version of yes and no, maybe and I don’t know. I always thought it would be the same for all of them, but one of mine moves north/south for yes when all of my other ones move in a clockwise circle for yes. I don’t know why it does, but it does.
When you’re starting it’s easiest to freeze your questions in yes or no format, and if for any reason you have a hard time getting it moving, take a break and try again later. I’m sure you will get the hang of it!
