When it was still illegal where I live my dad a JP (which is a type of judge where I am and you can do weddings) would happily do the entire ceremony for any same sex couple that wanted to go through the motions even if it wouldn’t be legally recognized.
He isn’t like, the most forward thinking man, but I am still so proud that he figured that love was love and people should be able to have it recognized as they wish.
I can’t believe there are still so many folks out there who can’t figure that out.

When I think about it, it’s not that surprising, but there certainly is a shock factor when you read every judge except one in *an entire county* was a massive piece of shit who had no business on the bench.

80 marriages in 9 months is a marathon. He was making sure he stuck it to the men who were aholes before anyone could yank the right away.

I’m adding him to my list of adopted Grandpas. They don’t often know they are my Grandpa… but I fret over them and send them my love through the universe. I LOVE YOU GRANDPA!

I’m proud to be a San Franciscan who was living here when mayor Gavin Newsom started issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples. I went to the courthouse immediately because they were calling for volunteers to help people with paperwork, keep them in the correct lines, etc.
I’ll never forget telling dozens of couples, “put today’s date…. It’s February 12th…you have to remember, it’s your wedding anniversary!”
Good times.

As a straight person, it’s easy to forget how recently this actually happened. It’s so critical for us to keep this energy for trans and non binary folks today. Everybody love everybody ♥️

In my country, before gay marriage was put on level with hetero marriage (it was called a civil union) several priests gladly had weddings of gay couples despite it not being legally binding
