As a medium, have you ever experienced anything scary or terrifying?

When I was very young I used to see spirits at my grandmothers house. It was an older farmhouse, and they used to have their prayer meetings there. The spirits were in a line across the top of the ceiling watching my sister and I. She is also sensitive and saw them as well. It scared us because we didn’t understand.
For a while, I had night terrors. An entity was standing at the foot of my bed watching me. It looked like a black shadow. Again, I was afraid because I didn’t understand.
I believe fear causes most of the misery in the world. I believe fear comes from a not understanding. Once a person receives education, they are less fearful.

We have some demons in our lives right now. I’m in the middle of a divorce with a lying cheating narcissist. At any rate, I have seen the demons a few times. & heard them.
The scariest one that unnerved me was about 2 months ago, we were in our truck about a mile from the house on a dirt, country road and he (my husband) was being his usual crappy person self and I saw what I thought was a dog in the road. It was dark out.
I said “Watchout for that dog right there” and pointed. He slammed on the brakes and said I don’t see a dog – I was continuing to point as I could still see it. The dog turned it’s head to me with gold eyes fiery and barred teeth and disappeared. It was a black dog, very thin, with a sharp bony body.
When it disappeared I realized it was a demon, played like it was nothing and said I didn’t know what I saw. I looked it up and it’s a hellhound.
I haven’t seen it since and never want to again. I have been calling on archangels to protect me.

I unconsciously dampened my abilities as a young kid because I saw and felt and experienced so many scary things. I saw dead people who looked like living people but no one else saw them. I saw non human spirits of all kinds, I saw my guardian angels, ghost animals, faeries, and a lot of stuff that I have no words for.
It didn’t help that my mom was terrified of everything seen and unseen and sorting out her own trauma. So I was just full blown scared all of the time until the last few years. I have gotten my anxiety disorder under control enough to open back up again. Its a slow process.

Not a medium just highly intuitive/sensitive and I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about my aunt – and with a burning need to protect her/get her out of her living situation one night.
I had contacted my parents immediately saying I was worried about her and that she needed help. They downplayed it and convinced me not to intervene.
I learned a couple of months later that she had fallen ill right around the time that I had the sort of feeling/premonition. She was exposed to an illness through her caregiver and died from the illness
I still struggle with the guilt of downplaying my own feelings or knowledge. In general perceptions or knowledge about death or illness can be scary

Yeeeeaaah so my apartment building is super haunted, I live in government housing where they stick all the old and disabled so a lot of misery has cultivated on these grounds.
When I first moved in, the woman who lived here before me had passed away and her spirit was definitely still here. I had to do my own lil exorcism because my debit cards and such would go missing and I knew it was the spirit. Luckily I knew her name (was still receiving her mail) so I could call her creepy ass out. Sorry Christine, this is my house now.But the scariest moment was when I was half asleep in my bed, and I just had this feeling of sheer terror. And I could sense the presence of SOMETHING, I had this vision like a spirit was standing over my bed holding a steak knife from my cutlery drawer. I was like oh great, that’s fucking terrifying so I just went to sleep and tried not to think about it. And in the morning I was making breakfast and I opened the cutlery drawer and saw the steak knives all there and for a spilt second I thought “oh the knife is back/the spirit put the knife back” and boom I immediately remembered the weird experience I had the previous night and I was like aaah shit. A spirit was here, threatening me in my bed with a knife. And I couldn’t help but laugh because I have giant kitchen knives as well and it just struck me as funny that the spirit would choose a little steak knife and not the big knife. It actually made me feel a lot better about the situation because it felt like the spirit was testing me? Trying to intimidate me? And I didn’t take the bait.
Haven’t had any experiences like that since.

Had a negative spirit in the household for a long while, manifested through years of family disharmony and bad energy. It became quite strong and often physical, knocking things towards family members, shaking beds and touching us. We eventually managed to got rid and found it had attracted a number of other spirits in the household who were essentially trapped. It hated women intensely and would hang around at the top of the stairs most of the time.
Also saw Hat man when I was around 6-7 years old during sleep paralysis. I screamed but nothing came out, the world was a dark blue and everything seemed shimmery. I felt utter sheer terror.
Have also seen victorian era dressed spirits at the end of the bed just staring at me, quite scary for a young kid to see especially when they just suddenly appeared. This was at a very very old house where the dogs would refuse to go into certain rooms and would growl at empty spaces.

Like others here, I have also had encounters with what I’m assuming were demons. It’s been many years since the last encounter though. It seems like the environment will lure them in and then they make it even worse. They love abusive households and are also attracted to arrogance

I’ve seen strange phenomena/spirits/ghosts since I can remember. 4 years ago I was in the kitchen having a midnight snack, then going to watch some tv when I see somebody staring at me from one old small table we had for 3 generations. I say *from* because her body – only a torso and a head – was sitting at the center of the table. Her eyes were too small and too close to each other and she had a toothy grin. Then she dissapeared. I decided to not watch tv and go to bed instead.

I’m a rescue medium and do house clearing and the like. As a child, I lived in a house that was a portal, I realise now, and it had some very scary ghosts in it. As an adult I choose to use my gifts to help people who have challenges with spirits. Typically, this will simply be a lost soul, but often, I come across some very dark entities, including various kinds of demons. I have no fear as I’m extremely well protected by my network of spirit guides and angels, but there are some entities out there that would make anyone’s hair stand on end.

Not a medium but more of an empath/sensitive…. and I honestly didn’t even know that was a thing until someone explained it to me…
Now what I’m about to share happened before I learned that I could pick up feelings or emotions from others living or dead…
Back in the summer of 2007 I went ghost hunting for the first time…. even though I had experienced things way before then… this was the first time actually going some where that other family members and a few friends had been to and had their own ghost story to tell…
The home was 150 yrs old…. the man who lived there… it was his family’s home and his grandparents had lived there as well as his great grandparents…(whom built the house)
My husband along with his siblings all know this man and his siblings… and knowing how I’m about ghost and spirits… got in touch with him and he gave the ok for us to come. There was 5 of us, along with my daughter who was 8 at the time… we took turns inside not to be confused on who was making noises or talking.
1 of the stories that a lot of folks had shared including the man who lived there, was cold spots on the staircase as you went upstairs to the 2nd floor….
Well it was finally our turn to go upstairs…. now I just had a small handheld tape recorder I was using to see if I could actually capture some evps… and a cheap camera…As I started going up the steps… maybe 3rd or 4th step.. I started to feel light headed and my stomach started flip flopping and I say this out loud it’s caught on the recorder….
i couldn’t move up the steps… I actually had to go outside and sit for about 10 minutes or so before I felt like myself…. unbeknownst to me I had caught a male voice (EVP) saying “Right” …. right after I had stated I was feeling light headed and sick. Never experienced that before and my husband kept asking me did I feel ok and did I want to continue or just go home. He had never seen me effected like this. I had never had this happen before!
The rest of the evening went fine with no issues… we did hear foot steps and caught a bunch of evps… and a lot of names the man knew or heard of.
Once that happened… more things started to happen…I had a scary moment that happened at my sister in laws home that she was renting…. lots of paranormal things went on there and I had told her I felt it was a female.. (no clue how I actually knew this… I just did)She had called 1 evening the activity was up and she wanted me to come over… so my husband n daughter go with me…
They are all sitting at her dining room table… talking about what had been going on… I’m walking around her house just getting a feel of it…. next thing I know I’m over come with extreme sadness I go in the dinning room sit down and next thing I know I’m balling my eyes out… both my hubs and sister in law are looking at me like what the hell just happened?
I told them I didn’t know what was wrong but it felt like she opened my back and climbed in…. and I’m freezing on the inside….. and just heartbreaking sadness…. that is what she wants me to feel and I couldn’t control it or stop it until she went through me….I sat there thinking WTF just happened? While they both kept looking at me like I was crazy!!
After about 15 minutes or so I was fine… back to my normal happy self….
After that night any time I went to my sister’s in laws house I knew right away if that female spirit was around… she never went through me again but I could feel her…. goose bumps, hair standing on end or cold chills…A moment I’ll never forget and couldn’t understand until later on when someone explained to me…. I’m an empath/sensitive.

Driving at night, I rounded a blind curve and my headlamps illuminated a gigantic black canine with glowing red eyes, sitting at the side of the road. Terrified, not only of its visage but scared I’d hurt whatever-it-was, I slammed on the brakes and skidded to a halt by it. As I watched it, it slowly faded from sight, the last to go was the pair of shining red eyes
It really shook me, but I drove on home and didn’t think much of it afterwards…until I was doing my laundry months later, by an open window, during a clear sunny day. I looked over because there was movement and there it was, the gigantic black dog-thing, big red eyes staring right at me. I screamed and pushed away from the window, falling on my ass. (The window is like 6ft above the outside ground so this thing is HUGE)
Since then, I keep randomly seeing it outside, and sometimes gingerly stepping in through the open door, staring up at me with ears down, shoulders hunched, tail tucked to appear as non-threatening as possible. Fascinating creature, I just wish it wouldn’t startle me by suddenly appearing out of the blue 😵💫

When I first started my psychic training with a teacher, I recall beginning to feel cold feelings come over me and also hearing the floorboards creak like something was walking in my bedroom. I used to think it was the expanding of the boards due to temperature but each time I heard the creaking it was followed by a cold feeling rushing over me that came out of no where.
Eventually I was made aware it was a ghost, I had an earth bound spirit which made sense as I had dated two women who were sensitives and both detected the ghost.
What scared me in the beginning is that it lived in the closet when it was not active. The closet had been a scary place for me as a child, my brother and I even once argued over who would sleep by the closet a room we had to share.
But to sense the ghost in the closet that came out at night to interact with me was a childhood fear come true….
But the only way to combat that fear was to come to understand what is happening and what to do and after several days of research I discovered there was nothing irrational about my fear of closets as ghosts stay in dark, cool places such as in the closet, underbeds, bathrooms or even dark corners during the day. I learned that making a vortex (portal) was the way to get the ghost to leave. I had done that and never was bothered again by a ghost.
Still, I get sometimes frightened at night because its not easy to live with the reality that there are entities that can attack and harm you and you cant defend yourself without getting up and walking around in the dark to grab the tools needed for protection.

Not medium but empath here, And honestly living with narcissistic is equally scary, I am really working on how to deal with such emotions since I have no way to cut ties. But I can say faith in god will always protect you. May god and guardian angels protect us. Amen -
I fully realized my medium abilities when I connected to a dead relative. They showed me visions of their life that I had never experienced and I broke down into tears… I was very frightened, having never experienced that before. Thankfully it was a good spirit and a familiar one, but I could’ve gotten possessed since I wasn’t being careful and messing with things I didn’t know anything about.
