Hi there I have a background in both modern and Hellenistic Astrology and have recently become interested in astrocartography. I however feel that the website Astro may be oversimplifying the concept. Am I wrong or should I not be also looking into the houses those planets fall in and as well checking the conditions and signs they’re in as well?

Well, you can do a relocated chart, which i believe is what you’re mentioning? From my experience I got Solar Fire to do the work. Their Solar Maps are very deep and the interpretations are good for cartography maps.

From all the years I moved based on astrocartography, the archetypes of the planet lines were always pretty much dead on. I visited my pluto line once and got really sick. Right now living on it and my life totally changed and my young dog suddenly died. My father lived on his pluto line and his father suddenly passed away. My Saturn line was full of depressed and pressure, etc.

You could possibly map out houses but i think that would be confusing to look at on a map. There would be a LOT of overlapping. Also, you would have to write out your own code because no astrocartography program i know of does this. The astrocartography maps are just another way to look at data and does it in a new way that is able to summarize information from several charts. The ASC/DSC and MC/IC lines represents all the places where if you did a chart that planet would be on the ASC/DSC or MC/IC. So basically, if you want to find more detailed information it’s good to start with the astrocartography map and then from there start choosing cities where you can do a relocated chart for more detailed information. There are also other methods such as local space charts or you can even work with Asian astrology that uses parkas and mewas to determine favorable directions (N, NE, E, SE, etc) or what to expect from the various directions.

Can anyone comment on being near Mars lines? Considering moving almost directly on one but I’ve read nothing but bad things. Maybe this could be somewhat mitigated for me as an Aries sun and mercury?
