At what point are we no longer beginners? I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. I’m only a few months into my practice and I’ve learned the basics (energy work, grounding, cleansing, banishing, protection), I’ve done few simple spells, mostly for protection, I’m very intuitive in my practice, and I’d consider myself a beginner. My friend argued that because I’ve formed an understanding on the craft I’m no longer a beginner. so, do you have to practice for a certain amount of time to no longer be a beginner? do you have to simply master the basics to no longer be a beginner? What makes an advanced witch?

Honestly the distinction between beginner or not is pretty much arbitrary unless you are in a coven or something. If you dont feel like a beginner anymore then its probably true lol

My opinion, you’re past the beginning, you’re developing your own practice. You’re not a beginner.
Now is when you get to have fun, the Mad Scientist stage!

I’d say once you have your first AH-HA moment when you figure out how a small part of the universe works. That’s when you’re not a beginner but that’s just my experience talking.

It’s different for everyone and everyone believes differently.

You are no longer a beginner when you no longer feel like a beginner.

Always keep a beginner’s mindset even with an advanced and established practice.

You’ll likely always feel you lack experience, but that just means you’re learning. We would all be fortunate to be flexible, humble, and open to learning throughout our entire lives.

This is an interesting question. I wonder how it would change for those of us born into families of practitioners. I’m really not sure where the demarcations would be for beginner-intermediate-advanced in that situation.

Not to witchcraft, but other crafts I started to feel that I am leaving begginer stage when I knew the answer for few/many questions on reddit forum about it xd

I’ve been practicing for 3 years and I know I’m still a beginner, you could have years and a huge amount of knowledge of your specific practice and still be a beginner, I think your no longer a beginner when you start helping and teaching the next generation so the tradition can carry on
