I see people offering to read charts for free and that’s great! It helps both parties learn the ins and outs of a chart.

I also see people offer to give readings for money, and I think this is great as well… but I have noticed a lot of people offer chart “readings” and then give out two blurbs of info for 20$.

This is especially unacceptable when the reader says they will provide a wide range of insight into multiple for said price. This happened to me recently on here, and so far it’s been my only negative transaction. But still… as our community grows, make sure the person offering services is very clear about what they’re offering, when they will provide it, etc. The person who stiffed me stopped responding but still lurks here. Be aware!

Has anyone else had this type of experience? What do you do to avoid it?

Honestly, I don’t buy readings on Reddit. If there’s a reader I’m interested in, I will check their page to see if they have a Fiverr or Etsy Store. If not, I’ll just look elsewhere.

Be careful in general. Like I got a reading from an astrologer who was recommended in a list of astrologers and so I went with it bc it was cheap. I basically learned nothing new at all and didn’t get any real insight wasting $100 and an hour of my time ????

I wish I paid more attention even to supposedly reputable astrologers. I rarely have luck ????‍♀️

I also advise to be careful with tarot as well. I know this isn’t a tarot sub but a lot of people who frequent here, also frequent r/psychic seeking a tarot reader.

A lot of them aren’t even using tarot cards…like how do you know unless they send you a video? This guy told me he was giving tarot readings and he gave me one but never mentioned what cards he pulled and when I asked he said “well I don’t actually use tarot….I just guess the answer.”

    Be careful!!

Month ago one person agreed to do free reading (he/she wanted to do it) but then disappeared after receiving my personal information. Then again appeared in my inbox, did little reading, suggested to do synastry… Of course, i agreed. Gave again my information and received angry message about my horrible knowledge in astrology..
    This person’s name piggy something

    Is it internet101 day today?

Reddit for all it flaws, is actually pretty good at making you uneasy about completing transaction here by nature. It might hurt us too not many great pro astrologer openly advertising or showcasing their knowledge here. There some but i would like a larger number. Goddamn $$$ASTRO$$$$TWITTER$$$ would help getting better top post if they would do it with quality.

I would just do your best to research the astrologer firsthand. See if they have posted any sort of meaningful content in a sub before, or even better look them up on social media, youtube, or see if they have a podcast. You’ll probably be able to get at least a decent understanding of not only the scope of their content, but also how they deliver it, which I find is as important as their integrity. There can even be great astrologers who have good reviews, but they may not be able to deliver the message in the way you need to hear it.

There is no problem charging for readings as an astrologer. Every one deserves the chance to make money for their craft.

However, if they’re going to charge then they should have a professional, verified website they can link people to explaining what they do and what they offer.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable exchanging money on Reddit. I have received some amazing free mini-readings on Reddit and that I learned a lot from it.

I get this. I recently bought a reading, though not on reddit, and they told me very little I didn’t already know, and, I was like, cool, I can do that myself. I wanted something deeper.

I am sorry this happened to you that stinks. It is frustrating when things like this happen. At least you only paid 20 bucks though. Perhaps you could look at the various accreditation to find someone reputable NGCR, OPA, AFA .

What I did to avoid these experiences was educate myself further on the subject, but also educate myself on what the services would include. I make sure I explain to them what it is I’m looking for in a reading. At this point if all they have to offer is a “as a sun in libra you’re a social butterfly!” then I don’t need that service. It’s why I don’t buy many astrology books anymore because this beginner meme level info is what they offer. I use astrology for foresight rather than insight.

I also no longer give readings for free, friends take advantage and people expect hours of research and my time for nothing but a thank you. I don’t know if this is an american problem but this attitude extends far beyond astrology and tarot. I’ve been asked since I like to bake to make & decorate a large birthday cake in less than 3 hours then they hated how basic it looked, friends find out I can sew and ask for bridesmaid dresses for free, I even had 1 of my ex husbands friends ask if I can make leather car seats for free.. it’s too much.
