GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 amI like to go through the deck card by card and just look at each one and get a feel for the art style. Otherwise, I also just tend to shuffle a lot and try out some basic three-card spreads, since I find it a great way to learn about a deck’s “personality.”

GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 amI shuffle a lot. I also do something that has been somewhat controversial with my friends. I carry them around a bit and shuffle when I have a quiet space. So sometimes that will be on my lunch in my truck, or when I was traveling, when other people were asleep on the train or plane. I usually keep them in a cloth bag separate from everything else. After the first little while I tend to leave them at home more.
The deck I have the easiest time reading intuitively is one I took with me on a solo trip to the Giant’ Causeway and I had it out all the time on the train and in the air bnb, in a pub etc and did my first solid reading with it at the top of the cliff. It works for me pretty well.

GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 amI looked up “new deck spread” or “tarot deck interview/introduction spread” to find good questions to ask the deck about its nature, how it will deliver it’s messages, etc. I found it to be a great way to break in a new deck. You get to learn about it without immediately asking for assistance
Another way I have connected with a deck and it’s energy overall is to put the cards in order in their respective suits. Then I lay out the first cards from each suit at the same time (for example, all aces) and feel for what each card represents and how the suits differ. Then I do the 2’s. Then 3’s, 4’s etc. It helps me see how the story unfolds in each suit while also seeing how they differ from each other. The first option is quicker but if you really want to break it in that’s a great way

GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 amI usually go through each card in the deck and just look at them and get a feel for them. I typically do a short little shuffle and spread with them afterwards, and at least for the first week or so, I usually sleep with the deck by putting it under a pillow next to me.

GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 ami shuffle a lot. did some random pulls and studied those cards. drew some for my friends and studied them that way too. some people say sleeping with them under your pillow is good too! best of luck to you 🙂

GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 amI look at each card one by one and then ask it for a card of the day. Depending on that pull, and the vibe I got from studying the card, I either continue working with it or put it back in order to study later.

GuestFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:04 amYou can do an interview to the deck. What it thinks about you? What it may help you with? Etc it’s a great way to see what’s the interaction.. list a few questions and do a reading! Good luck
