Hey! I’ve always been interested in astrology but never got deeper than reading the planets and the houses individually.

I recently came across the notion of Yods and despite my researches, I don’t really grasp how one should read correctly the Yods.

If someone can explain it to me or give me good ressources, that would be so nice! 🤗

Before diving into aspect patterns, you should learns basic aspects first. A yod is made of 3 separate aspects that connect. Once you understand the basics of aspects it’ll be easier to try and understand full aspect patterns.

I very much agree with oaiisea. If you haven’t learned plain aspects yet, you need to do that first. A good book for that is Bil Tierney’s Dynamics of Aspect Analysis. It covers the individual aspects as well as aspect patterns.

So, for the yod, you need to research the quincunx (also called an inconjunct). It’s an aspect of 150 degrees. And to help you understand the quincunx further, learn about “aversion” houses. Because a quincunx aspect means the two houses/signs the planets are in, are “in aversion” to each other.

And the other aspect in a yod is the sextile, an aspect of 60 degrees.

The Yod Book by Karen Hamaker-Zondag. I’m surprised you’ve not found good stuff by googling and noodling around, try this one maybe…keep looking!

think of it as an asepct of suffering and growth in same time.

If it were houses, the yod would occur between 1st and 6th and 8th.
the 6th and 8th have a sextile in between, which is harmonious

then the planet in 1st would receive 2 quincunxes (inconjunctions) from the other 2 planets. That planet is getting the negative affects produced b the harmony (sextile) of the other 2 planets. Each side work as a shadow.

So they manifest as some sort of hard to solve inner conflict

Awesome question, I’ve been curious about this myself as I’d like to determine whether or not I have a true yod, or if the website I was on was just spouting BS. Lol.

You could read it as a midpoint: A/B = C

What is a yod? Is it an acronym?
