I am new to tarot and I am mostly interested in learning how to do readings to reflect on one’s life, however I was wondering if tarot could also be used to get in contact with the spiritual world.

Would it be possible, say, to connect to people who passed away? Could I be asking about their current state, whether they’re ok or not? Is this considered blasphemy in the world of tarot?

Forgive me if this crosses a line, I am just curious as I am trying to find peace.

    Thanks 🙂

Sure! Yes! Though, and others may disagree with me, but I do find that oracle cards are a bit better for this. I’ll give you a little example….

In addition to reading cards, I’m also a medium, but like most mediums, for whatever reason, I don’t have a clear line to my own loved ones who have crossed over. Specifically my father. Sometimes, I really need his guidance, so I sit down with a deck of oracle cards- I really love Sonia Choquette’s Ask Your Guides Oracle, as well as Queen of the Moon Oracle. Even something like James Van Praagh’s Messages from Your Guides (which is admittedly not a very good product for what it is- I had to review these and I would never recommend them) works well for this purpose because the messages are very concise and unambiguous. There’s little margin for error or interpretation.

It’s a matter of setting your intention prior to using the cards, focus on sensing the presence of your loved one, ask your questions or state your piece and draw your card/s. Afterward, I find something occurs almost immediately to validate the experience. Often within minutes. Like a photo of my father will randomly pop up on my phone, when I have no such settings enabled, or his painting will slide off the wall. Some sign will come through to let me know he was with me.

And you’ll know. You’ll feel it. You’ll get tough love. You’ll get support in times of crisis. And eventually you may find that you won’t always need the cards. I don’t *always* need the cards to connect to my father, but because the tie is so deeply personal and the grief remains so raw, I really can’t still my mind and emotions enough to hear him, so the cards help open the lines of communication.
