To preface I really only practice meditation and use protection spells/talismans during my work as I’m fairly new and adopting new practices slowly.

I meditate nightly as a way to sooth anxiety and dissociation (I also utilize mundane resources I promise) and a few months ago during my meditation I felt an energy pull from my left shoulder and instantly knew it was a friend who had been forced to block me by their physically abusive partner. I pulled on the energy with my own and said their name. Minutes later I received a text from my friend asking if I was ok. This happened again a few months later with my bf’s estranged brother but this time a flood of emotion and fear came flooding into my body. The next day my bf received a text from the brother.

Part of me feels like I absolutely am communicating in part with these two individuals and another part feels like this is all a coincidence. Resources on google seem to be split between the idea that meditation cannot be used for communication as it is a tool to connect with one’s own body and the belief that meditation is absolutely a communication tool.

Apologies for the novel but If anyone has reputable resources or knows a thing or two about meditation and it’s possibilities I would love to hear from y’all.

I view meditation as a moment where you quiet the external stimuli and our monkey chattering brains, which opens space for us to notice other things, like what you’re describing. I and others I know who meditate experience all kinds of interesting things that only become noticeable when we get quiet. This is anecdotal, based on 20 (?) yrs or so of meditation. I haven’t read a lot of mediation books – I’m more of a do-er, but what I have read also supports it. Whether you call it communication or just being more open and sensitive / attuned, yes, absolutely can happen.
Edit: Also – how very cool for you to experience this. I don’t think it’s coincidence at all.
Oh, also- yes, you can become more adept and “sending” your energy and intentions. So yeah, I guess that would be communication. Odd that I never thought of it that way before!

You can conceivably do all kinds of things in meditation, from feeling energy to journeying to other planes and speaking with other entities. You can also communicate with your body. It depends on your individual gifts/skills and what you’re open to, but the reason it sees a lot of use in magick is because it’s a pretty accessible way to get your mind into a state of non-ordinary reality where your perception of what is and what could be is a lot wider.

on the one hand, meditation is about connecting to one’s inner self, one’s higher self. On the other hand, both science and mysticism agree that there is some sort of “Collective unconscious” (In Freud’s Terms) that connects us all on some deep level. Call it what you will, but I see no reason why connecting fully with your innermost self wouldn’t tap into that force, call it what you may, that connects us all.

Speaking from personal experience, I have definitely used deeper meditations to ‘pop out and check on’ a friend, as it were. Not quite the same thing as dropping a call, shooting a text, or popping over for a coffee or tea, of course, but it is a check in all the same.
