i first read on a situation i’m in a few days ago and the cards were unbelievably positive, and everything that was predicted to happen pretty much happened the day i read for myself.

then, anxiety for me set in, so i consulted the cards again, and i know i shouldn’t do that, but i did it anyway. so i got a bunch of negative cards that made me feel very confused and muddled the meanings of other cards in the readings i was doing. i tried clarifying the confusing cards but all i’ve gotten is just… more confusion. the clarifying cards that i’ve dealt have to deal with mostly anxiety, disaster, and overthinking…

i know now that i should take a break from reading on this situation, but should i still take it seriously, or just accept that they could be false negatives/reflections of my current state? i don’t know. i keep coming back to reading on this situation even though that’s a rookie mistake, because i feel like there’s some hard truth that needs to be revealed or something even though it’s causing me immense confusion and anxiety. guidance would be appreciated, thank you in advance 🙂

You shouldn’t do that when you feel like this, because you’ll see things the wrong way when the cards are mostly showing you the way you’re feeling and not showing you anything about the things you wanted to know, they will urge you to calm down, it’s literally a call out.

“We’re not going to show you anything, fix yourself first.”

Same happens when you’re desperate for the answer the way you want it, they’ll show you that and not a real outcome. We need to be as stable as possible to read the cards for ourselves and specially the others.

    A couple things I’ve noticed:

First, as I’m reading, I find that if I’m really anxious or worried or just thinking a lot about something other than the exact questions/situation I’m pulling for, the cards will give me answers to something else. A couple years ago my friend went through a divorce and started dating again after a few months. I did a reading for her that was supposed to be about the new flame, but it ended up being about her ex husband spot on, and was painful but really truthful about her road to closure and future happiness. She didn’t like it. What I’m getting at here is sometimes when you ask one thing, your soul needs something else or is focused on something different. When you try to clarify and anxious card while you are anxious, you can get a reading clarifying your anxiety about the card, not the card itself.

Two, when I’m really anxious or worried about a card’s meaning, I just don’t feel in touch with my intuition, and then I have to search for meaning and I struggle to know what is truth vs what is my anxiety. If I find myself anxious and frustrated after a clarifying spread still, I just put my cards away and do something to calm. The last time this happened (a couple days ago), I waited until that night, took a bath with lots of candles, then set up my space with just two crystals that I love (amethyst sphere and clear quartz sphere) and lit a purple candle. I felt much calmer and ready to truly listen. Afterwards I realized the frustrating spread earlier was reflecting my fears about the card I wanted clarified, not the card itself.

Perhaps give this reading a day or so, reconnect yourself, and then look if there are alternate meanings or situations for the cards you drew.

I’m new to this but I’m curious about the idea that you’re using tarot to predict anything. My understanding is that tarot isn’t about fortune telling or seeing the future, but helping us recognize when or why certain things happen. If you are using it to predict what will happen, my personal belief if you might just be setting yourself up for a self-fulfilling prophecy. That in and of itself, to me, would cause a lot of anxiety. It’s just a thought and doesn’t really address your question. And maybe I’m reading too much into that one little word!
