JessicaParticipantFor context, I try to do a single card pull in the morning to understand what energy I should embrace or be ready to handle for the day ahead. I leave that card out by my computer to refer to every know and then. I realized, though, that I only do this if it’s a card I like. When it’s a card I’m not ready for I put it back in my deck. Well today, I decided I was going to keep my 5 of Pentacles out, despite being a little uncomfortable with it. I look at it and am reminded to be grateful for what I have and know I’m not alone.
I’m curious if anyone had done the same, started the day with a quick reading and either buried that card away or kept it out?

GuestJanuary 29, 2021 at 11:12 pmI personally don’t think my daily pull is telling me the future about the day, just offering advice on how to manage my mindset/emotions for the day.
For example, if I pull a card like the Tower, which most people view as negative, it doesn’t mean the day is going to be a shitshow and something drastic is going to happen that will shake my life to its core. It just means I need to be cautious, challenge my own assumptions and decisions throughout the day, that sort of thing. Don’t jump to conclusions when my partner gets home late, don’t argue with Aunt Matilda over pointless things on Facebook, don’t blow the budget on takeout. Stop and think before making a decision.

GuestJanuary 29, 2021 at 11:12 pmI saw a suggestion that you pull your card at the end of the day, and reflect to find that feeling in your day, rather than letting it occupy brainspace when it’s a less than perfect card.

GuestJanuary 29, 2021 at 11:12 pmI also do a daily card pull, do my journal entry on it, and just put it back in the deck. I think it’s interesting how you leave yours out as a reminder!
As far as embracing the less than positive cards, when I get a card that is “negative” I just to try to take it as a warning and try to stay positive that day. Often times, the cards are right, we can’t have all good days I guess lol.

GuestJanuary 29, 2021 at 11:12 pmI don’t look at daily pulls as future focused, but more as a suggestion for meditation or introspection. Those “not so positive” cards are really interesting in a way that positive cards sometimes just aren’t. There’s only so much you can find to say about the Sun for example.
But 5 of pents raises all sort of questions. You might see it as a prompt to ask yourself questions like how am I feeling about my resources? Do I feel supported? Do I ask for help when I need it, or do I tend to withdraw? Would another strategy be better?

GuestJanuary 29, 2021 at 11:12 pmI got the 5 of Pentacles repeatedly for about a month. I really did not like what the card was evoking in me and I settled it at first with the idea that I don’t fear what the card represents any more. Then it continued to crop up – every second or third day. And still it bothered me so I decided to dig deeper into really looking at my usual thoughts around what the card brings up. One of the things I read was that if I continue to think in the way I do, I could manifest the reality of the 5 of Pentacles. A situation I already feel on the edge with due to life choices I’ve made maybe a bit recklessly that have affected my financial situation – being led by my heart. I reflected on how I’m approaching things and if it needs updating – and it did! These are new problems that need a new approach and a new way of thinking. Nothing major has changed but I can see a way out, I know I can adapt to change and I’m less worried than I was so that energy is being used in a better way. The card finally disappeared back into the deck.
