Hello everyone. I’ve been reading some posts here and found some confussion over the use of words “spirit” and “soul”. Spanish is my mother tongue, so this may be a language issue but I’d like to know your insights on this so I can clarify to facilitate my own reading.

As far as I’m concerned spirits is not the same as souls. To make it really short, the spirit is something universal and the soul is individual.

Within my current beliefs, we talk about “The Spirit” or “The Great Spirit” to what others may call God. Souls, on the other hand belong to each person, can’t perish and are powered by the spirit.

Do you guys agree with this definitions? How do you use this two words?

I see the soul as the life force of any living creature (plants, animals, etc.) I see Spirit as consciousness with self-awareness, understanding.

I agree with you. A spirit can be the energy of a human or nonhuman. The word spirit can mean many things.

Soul means the energy of a living, or, formerly living human.

    There is a distinction.

Soul is like a steak, while spirit is the seasoning.

The soul is simply the life force in every living thing, including plants. In humans, we call this life force “Kundalini.” The goal of being in a human body when we choose to reincarnate here is for the soul to rise up the rainbow bridge of chakras, ascend to a higher level of consciousness, and merge with the spirit.

The spirit is the “Higher Self” or the aspect of you that is also God, the aspect of you that is divine and a conscious creator of your own reality. Only humans have spirits, other animals do not. Humans are a hybrid of animal and divine.

OP, I totally agree with you that the soul is individual and the spirit is universal.

Source/God = Unconscious Mind and Cosmic Collective Unconscious)

Deities/Higher Self(Archetypes promoted by Collective Consciousness) = Culture, Religion or Group

Spirit(subconscious and unconscious mind) = Consciousness

Soul(Psyche)(conscious and subconscious mind) = personality, ego, role in society, archetype

    Something like that

I prefer using spirit for the immortal individuality and soul for the spirit is in the incarnated body. But these are words we use according to our custom. Once we can understand each other, it’s fine, as these things pre-exist words and each people create ways to express them.

Your spirit is connected to your brain. Your soul is connected to your heart. In other words, your spirit is your conciousness, your thinking and etc. Your soul is your emotions, your sense of right and wrong etc.

There is no questions with that question! Your soul provides eternal memory and imprint! It holds everything. A spirit, is an imprint in echo! I am my higher self! I am also quite experienced with soul splits. I had no idea, I actually kind of hypnotised myself! I astral travel and I am split in two halves which are both whole, it is quite strange! It is amazing what your soul, spirit, energy and force can provide you with. And the things that you can get through when you focus!

    Bless

In English, Spanish and French, there are some confusions based on beliefs, semantics and existentialism —
    – Spirit Espiritu Esprit >>> from the esoteric realm; also means in good vibes (or spirit) in relation to the frequencies of the supranatural (deads/ghosts)— however, could be confused with “mind” in French
    – Soul Ama Âme >>> from the exoteric realm; also relates to consciousness and in French to ethics (*en ton âme et conscience*)

Whereas in English — Soul has borrowed more customs from Eastern philosophies in regards to beliefs like (re)incarnation— and Spirit seems closer to “higher self”.
Carne is Spanish is meat — Carnal in French relates to flesh; hence reincarnation into flesh. However, *spiritualité* the domain in French, relates to *le spirit* or *spiritueux* for alcohol but… *l’Esprit* is the *mind* — which makes *mind body spirit* very hard to translate 🥲
