A lot of people who work as nurses in hospitals, mental hospitals, get Compassion Fatigue. So really anyone who works with people who have undergone serious trauma.

Seeing people who are grieving their lost loved ones seems difficult in a similar way. And It seems like doing psychopomp work could really get difficult, seeing all the different deaths and the mental state of the spirits that may have been wandering for so many years.

Here’s an article that explains a bit about what Compassion Fatigue is, if you don’t know or you’re curious.

Not sure you posted the right link, so I looked up [compassion fatigue](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compassion_fatigue) on Wikipedia. It’s true that this work can be draining but our own spiritual practices help mitigate this. (A competent medium should know how to ground, center, and *rest.*) It probably isn’t as bad as what others experience either, since we act less like healers and more like facilitators. Like airport greeters, we mostly just connect people.
