Dreams of a loved one who has passed

So I lost someone very dear to my heart about a year ago. I have so many dreams about him, like it seems at least twice a week. The dreams are never bad, at all. I just want to know if their is usually a reason we dream so much about a loved one after they pass.

I’ve always wondered this too.

I toy between the idea of my subconscious projecting the image of that person, to allow me to have a few more encounters in order to continue to heal. Or, at times- especially during more lucid dreams- I wonder if it truly is my loved one, here for a visit.
