I'm really new to all this (I was a staunch materialist until about 6 months ago) and I feel like this is probably a dumb question, but it's something that's been weighing on my mind.
I'm reading Journey of Souls by Michael Newton and I've gotta say, I'm not enjoying it. Some aspects are interesting, but the description of the afterlife as basically a community college is really off-putting.
Given that connecting with loved ones is often discussed, my main question is this: It kind of seems like, at least in his description of the afterlife from what I've read so far, that engaging in interests isn't something that happens in the spirit world (assuming it exists). Reading books, for example. Do spirits get to read earth books? Say I die before the next season of my fav show comes out. Do I get to enjoy it in the spirit world? Not sure why I'm so pressed by this. I guess the spirit world as described by Newton seems like a place I'm not that excited to be in.
