I didn’t know exactly how to title this but yesterday I heard that a voice actor for a game I have played for a long time has recently passed away and she was the voice to one of the characters as well as the narrator for the character you play as.

This video game is called Wizard 101 a turn based fighting game where you pick a school of magic and you fight monsters (There’s multiple story arcs that have built up over the years but this is just a loose summary of it). Some of the creatures and worlds in the game are based off of different mythologies as well such as Mount Olympus.

Each school of magic has its advantages and disadvantages (I will not explore that unless asked).

    The list goes as following:

    Balance (Sorcerer)

    Fire (Pyromancer)

    Ice (Thaumaturge)

    Storm (Diviner)

    Myth (Conjurer)

    Life (Theurgist)

    Death (Necromancer)

I mostly played as a life wizard which although isn’t a combat heavy type of school it was always something I gravitated towards because its based in healing and support.

Some of the spells that I created over the years was inspired by a spell in the game called “Sanctuary”

which is a global type spell that circles around the dueling circle giving an increase to only healing based spells.

In my personal life I always strive give healing and compassion I never liked being aggressive which did open me up to not so nice things.

To close this post I would like to add the bio that belongs to the school but is found in the game:

“Life is spirit, the force of awareness and existence. It is studied by those who embrace the power of all that is living and strive to perpetuate its life force.

Life removes chaos from the world and creates order to make that which is self sustaining.

Inner peace and discipline are the traits of all Theurges.

On the Triangle of Magic, Life sits between Fire and Storm, for the spark of life comes from those two forces.

Under the leadership of Professor Wu, the school colors of green and brown have been adopted, representing the hues of nature.

The brightly colored stone known as Jade has become the gemstone of all Theurges.”

Inspiration can be found in all things, even in the most unlikely of places, so I’d never immediately discount something.

However, I’d never base my craft off of a single source. I’d like to visualize my craft as a river that is fed by many streams. It gives me the flexibility to “turn off” a stream if, in growing in my craft, that particular source of knowledge and inspiration is holding me back.

If I based everything off of one source though, my river would dry up! I personally think that’s what happens to many a witch that feels held back or blocked, tying themselves to one specific viewpoint and becoming discouraged over time. But, just my view. Continue to do what you think is most helpful for you.

Not a video game, but for the longest time, Tamora Pierce books were my source of magical education. This was in 1998-2000. Taught me a surprising amount. She did her homework.

That video game itself must have been inspired by several existing forms of practices. Inspiration comes from different sources 🙂

    Chaos magic 😀

I work with the Wolfblood power system and the DSMP roleplay characters as pop culture entities (kinda like regular spirits but from a fictional canon)

It’s not unheard of, and ***personally***, I loathe to hear of anybody who goes this route.

    See: [The Final Fantasy House](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFRjrLmc_4c&ab_channel=FredrikKnudsen)

It’s not to say that it’s not hypothetically or theoretically impossible to reach out to whatever energy is out there. Personally, I believe that gods and goddesses are energy, and if you can manipulate the energy correctly then you can interact with said god or goddess.

Taking that further down the rabbit hole could surely garnish results, but if you go too far or follow the wrong tunnel, you find yourself in a bad situation like that video. That I hope you surely watched in its entirety.
