Have you ever been driving around, perhaps meditating, and noticed a picture of a king on a billboard holding a scepter, or chalice, etc…?

Do you ever read for yourself as you’re out and about and noticing these things?

Oh yeah. Its a big part of what gives the cards their power is the imagery looms large in the unconscious minds and surfaces repeatedly through pop culture.

That’s the point of tarot cards– they connect to the world around us.

Some of the imagery is a little more out there, but many of the rws depictions are based on symbols that western cultures have been using for centuries. This means that even if you don’t understand the meaning of the pomegranates on the dress of the Empress, you can understand from her posture and title that she is powerful, and the symbol next to her is used for femininity.

If tarot cards were completely disconnected from reality, they would be utterly useless.

i don’t tend to notice them in objects but i do see the cards in people as i get to know them. sometimes when someone is telling me a story or asking me about a situation a few cards will pop in my mind as well. it always makes me happy to feel so close to tarot.

Actually, yes! One night there was a thunderstorm and lightning struck a high rise that I could see from my window. Immediately, I thought of the Tower.

It was a Sunday night and I was dreading going into work the next morning – even more than usual. I thought “this is an omen – surely I’m going to get fired or something.” I resolved that if I didn’t get fired or laid off, I would quit that week, because I was miserable. I ended up getting laid off the next day. It was devastating at the time. I lived alone and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to provide for myself. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I got a severance package and I ended up getting a higher paying gig with more upward mobility.

Oh yes big time. I did a report on a president once and basically related his portrait to the high priestess, since he had two flags instead of pillars.

My professor loved it though, easy A 🙂
